My greatest personal disappointment in my time at A&M was not giving his class the attention it deserved. If the lectures are digitized, I want to would love to listen.

Blue Diamond in memory of Dr. Kramer. Dr. Kramer was the type of professor that EVERY STUDENT HOPES THEY ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE and EVERY PROFESSOR WISHES THEY WERE; Brilliant and Interesting lecturer who was easily approachable and a friend and mentor to his students.

His history of Nazi Germany class was the ONLY one that I NEVER missed any of the lectures.

The history of Nazi Germany was my most memorable class at A&M. That man could tell a story. So sorry to hear about his passing. I have mini tape recordings of every one of his lectures from my class somewhere. I think they are in storage. I'll try to find them and digitize them if anyone is interested.

Edit: and dang that class was hard to register for.

MEEN. Never had the pleasure, but this thread is a nice tribute to an obviously great man. I'd love to hear some of those lectures!!!! Please do provide, if you can!

Here.

Will never forget his class. He passed around an US Army 1911 and a Nazi-stamped Luger pistol and asked us to speculate on how the two different guns symbolized how we won the war. Just incredible.

Rest in Peace, Professor.

a great man who will be deeply missed. He was a pillar in the history department. His door was always open to students, and he truly cared about his students, and not just in regards to class. He made an effort to get to know the people he taught, and that isnt extremely common these days.

"Why the Jews?" I will never forget his rhetorical question repeated almost every class. I took his course the last semester of my senior year + .5. Awesome class and even better teacher. Rest in peace, Professor.

I will buy his lectures (and pay a premium) if they are made available. To use a word I generally abhor but which is evidently applicable here, he must have been incredible.

Yeah I tried to get in but couldn't. Took History of the South with Dr Buenger instead but it was still a good class.

edit: and count me in on the lectures, I'd love to hear them even though it's 21 years too late. That's some dedication if you have the entire semester!

Interested to get a copy myself. Tend to fall asleep lately to WW2 documentaries.

I am 47 years old and I still remember his class vividly. I remember when he brought in survivors from the holocaust to speak to us. He had a passion for educating. Here.

Did we ever find out if the lectures are posted anywhere?

I got to know him fairly well when I was a student back in the late 80s.

I asked him once about knowing everyone's names and he said he felt it was his duty and he studied the seating chart every day until he knew them all.

He was a great teacher. One of the best story tellers ever and he absolutely loved it.

One of the 2 best teachers I ever had, the other being the famous John Mixon

I remember his European history lectures and how his father served in the Austro-Hungarian army.

One of the best professors/lecturers I've ever had at any level. I thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed his history class as a Biology major. I would probably appreciate and enjoy it even more now.

I took Post-Civil War US History from Dr. Krammer in the Fall of 1990, my first semester at A&M. He was the best professor I ever had. He talked about Upton Sinclair's The Jungle (and Poor Jurgis) enough that I bought the book and read it. It was the first time in my life that I ever enjoyed a history class.

Lower level US History. I was a Meteorology major. I'd had Dr. Krammer recommended to me by a neighbor who had gone to A&M five years before I did.

Yes, his regular course rotations included one History 106 course (US history after Civil War) and then some upper level Nazi Germany and German history courses.

That US History 106 course was always in a big auditorium classroom and always full.
