I am hoping Santa will bring me a new coffee maker. I have been using a regular keurig for a dozen years and am ready to move on. I think I would like one that grinds the beans. I don't ever make a pot of coffee, just one cup at a time. I do switch between regular and decaf quite a bit, so that has to be easy to do. I currently fill up the reusable kcup for each cup I make. It is a pain in the butt. I would like the new one to be less labor intensive. Also, Santa doesn't want to spend more than $250. I don't need foam, espresso or anything like that. Just coffee. What ya got?

Brace yourself, I don't drink alcohol anymore. Yeah, I am as surprised as you are.

get an old school one. Apparently hot water should not be going through plastic. Not the most healthy thing

Pour over is the answer. One cup at a time and very cheap. Just get a kettle that has preset temps and you're good to go!

Of all the stuff I have poured in my mouth over the years, warm water and plastic is really low on my concern list. And, I work in a plant that makes plastic. It's gotta be safe, right?

I normally use a burr grinder and French press most mornings. Recently picked up an AeroPress and like it too.

French press is the best

This is what you want and you will likely only need to buy it once.

I had a friend introduce me to this a couple years ago and I was hooked.

I have a Nespresso and really like it. Ain't cheap tho and it won't allow 3rd party pods like a Keurig so if expense is an issue I'd look at other options

I think I paid about $50 for the grinder at Costco and maybe $25 for the French press at Target. You can get set up to make some great coffee for a lot less than $250.

I am looking for less labor intensive. I have only used a french press a few times and cleaning it out after use was way more work. Great cup of coffee, but more work than I want that early.

One cup at a time.
Switch between regular and decaf.
Must be minimal labor intensive.

You need a Keurig.

That may be what you're looking for. A built in conical burr grinder is a big plus.

My grinder is that same brand. It has been excellent for the price.

This is the answer. I don't do coffee but my wife does. Have one of these for a couple years now and she says its the best. Buy once, cry once. Same with the Zojirushi rice cookers.

BUNN makes an amazing coffee maker, most commercial restaurants use them. I have this one, and it is awesome. Amazon link below:

This! Simple. Makes a pot in about 8 minutes. Easy to clean. Makes great coffee.

Get a good grinder to go with it and you're good to go.

If you are not personally sourcing your own Colombian fair trade, shade grown, organic, artisanal beans and roasting at home then you shouldn't even bother with coffee.

Get a separate grinder that can adjust make as many cups as you want. I like our Krups.

Then get a Chemex and its filters to make pour over coffee. If you don't have one, you'll also need a kettle or something to boil water and easily pour it.

This will cost a lot less than $250 and make better coffee than any machine I've ever used.

1. I have a Jojirushi that has an insulated pot and doesn't have a heated plate that it sits on so the coffee won't burn.
2. French press. Easy to make one cup and since you don't use a cotton filter, you get more of the natural coffee oils.
3. Definitely use a grinder.

I use a double espresso Nespresso and a boil kettle to make a 12oz Americano at home. You can also get pods that are far better than Ke

Burr grinder and Mochaster at home (we had the grinder/brewer and when the grinder broke the whole thing was useless). You don't have to make a full pot

You can get a Chemex and kettle to make a great cup with little mess but it takes to much time for me so mine sits in the cupboard most of the time.

I ditched coffee for energy drinks. Better taste, easier, no mess, more caffeine.
