I agree with his point on the corporatization of Star Wars essentially stripping any meaning from Star Wars and what I think is his point that the underlying weirdness and idiosyncrasies of George's story telling is part of the charm of Star Wars.

I also kinda understand and I am sympathetic to his points about Andor eroding away more of the core of Star Wars by showing this emotionally meaningful spy drama that ultimately leads into this fairy tale. I don't think I ultimately agree. But I do understand about the tonal shift to be jarring and what I think is his point that in some ways Andor is the anti-Star Wars.

I had never thought about the Acolyte being more Star Wars-esque than Andor, because it has the "flawed" storyteller perspective. I agree that thematically, Acolyte raised some interesting questions, what do the Jedi do when faced with other force users? How does the Jedi order police itself? But I think he was too generous in appraising its execution. Acolyte is still a huge failure because it completely failed in setting up its scenario and payoff.

Personally, if given the choice between more Andor or more Acolyte, I would would vote Andor 10/10, even if it is less "Star Wars-y". But taking his thought experiment, to the better comparison, Andor vs. Skeleton Crew, I am probably more torn. Andor is objectively better, but Skeleton Crew felt more Star Wars-y. I'd probably still pick more Andor, but I can see a compelling argument for more Skeleton Crew as it fits more into the fairy tale/adventure model of the OT.

Agree with everything he said about ST, I hadn't really thought about how a lot its flaws are from over catering to a Gen-Z audience.

Also, agree with his point that feeding the Disney+ machine with Star Wars content is more damaging to the franchise than just making bad/mediocre shows. How it limits the audience and erodes the brand just by existing in this format.

Something tells me the Ewoks still come out on top somehow.

This movie poster shows a better picture of the big baddie…..but it's hilarious because the dude dead center holding the gun isn't even a character in the movie and the old man character who's a grumpy old dude turned hero/mentor to the little girl isn't even on this poster….really really weird…

They're on disney+ now. Might need to go back and watch them. Son has almost finished Rebels and is looking for what's next.

Do you mean the Dewback that's been around since Star Wars about 40+ years before Mando?

We watched the first half hour or so of the first ewok movie. It's bad. I was glad when I needed to go make dinner and my son changed the chan El when I left. But yes. The badguy is vaguely predator esque looking but he's about 30' tall.

ph crap don't know if I've seen that one I only know of two Ewok films….The Great Adventure (iirc the kids go on a mission to rescue their parents and it sucked)….and The Battle for Endor (not great but WAAAAAAY better than the other….especially because of what happens to a few characters at the beginning….IYKYK)

no i think it's the thing that mando got from nick nolte i nthe first episode and had to train t oride it. it's got arms, the dewbeck was all legs IIRC
