From the title my first thought was that this was a Jason Statham film.

Derek Cianfrance is one of my favorite directors. Given his past efforts, I was expecting something way more somber, but yeah this looks so fun and seems to be a welcomed change of pace.

No Fincher is a massive blow, and I kind of can't stand Sorkin as a director. That said, a Sorkin script - especially this one - will always have my attention...

But, they should really just get a Gilroy brother to do it. Either one is fine.

I'm not seeing any official mention of Fincher producing. I don't think he's involved. Even if he was/is, though, it likely wouldn't have any effect on Sorkin's lackluster directing.

That said, yeah, a Gilroy brother would be incredible. Unfortunately, Sorkin just doesn't let anyone else direct his scripts nowadays, which is a shame.

I'm trying to picture how The Social Network was anything near a John Hughes college shenanigans movie and just not seeing it.

You know the opening credit sequence, after Erica breaks up with Mark, and he's walking across campus back to his dorm?

This is "Hand Covers Bruise," the now-iconic Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross track that plays over it...



However, for the exact same sequence, before Fincher came onboard, this is the song Sorkin named in the script, going so far as to include the lyrics from the song, as if dialogue from a character (in this case, Paul Young), in the script/during the sequence...



Everything else in the script reads exactly the same as in the movie, but in terms of tone, you can see just how crucial Fincher was, and why Sorkin directing the sequel has me worried. He just has totally different sensibilities.
