A24 makes some interesting stuff, but man, they really need to up their advisor budget. Premise looks pretty wild though. I'll keep an eye on it.

I hadn't heard about this. But the female lead is from Alexa and Katie, a modern but classic feel family sitcom my kids like watching. I do too I guess. Tiffany Amber Theisen is the mom

Absolutely. I just read treasure island within the past year and was wondering why nobody has remade a version in a long time (that I can think of). If done right it can be a really fun cool family movie. I am a little worried about Scott being involved because the dude has clearly lost his touch, but Jackman as Long John Silver is perfect casting.
Last version I can think of is Muppet Treasure Island, which to be fair is a really fun movie.
Reminds me of a random generally unrelated movie fact about the approaches of lead actors in Muppet film that I love:
In A Muppet Christmas Carol, Michael Caine acted with the belief that the other Muppets were fellow Shakespearean actors. In Muppet Treasure Island Tim Curry acted with the belief that he was, in fact, also a Muppet.

Aren't we way past the current saturation point for these apocalypse movies? I feel like we've seen this same movie about 20 times in the past 5 or 6 years. Yes, I know it was based on a book but its still a very tired concept right now. We need about a 10 year break from these apocalypse movies to make any of them feel fresh again.
