Assuming a $225 million production budget (and then applying a 25% UK tax break) combined with a 200 million marketing budget the break even is roughly around $738 million worldwide

Anecdotal, I know, but I used the Amazon link about a week ago to get tickets for the fam on July 8. At our theater, I was able to get them together, but the pickings were SLIM. Conversely, I jumped on Jurassic Park tickets for July 3rd earlier this week at the same theater (in Screen X, though). There were a couple gone, but I was able to grab the same number in a primo location without issue.

What does this mean? Probably nothing. But there you go.

200 million is what James Gunn has claimed, but a tax filing in Ohio as of 12/2024 was 363.8 million. This is before additional post-production costs. So back of the napkin, maybe around 800 million to break even?

Of course, Gunn is going to report a lower number.

This is some kind of bootleg audio recording, but it's the new version of the Williams theme in full effect, from the movie itself, and kicks in about 25 seconds through. If this is the energy Gunn is bringing, yeah, this movie's gonna cross a billion...

As I was listening to this my 2 year old (who has dark hair and would be a perfect little Supes for Halloween) tapped me on the leg, looked up at me and reached his arms up for me to pick him. Yeah, totally had a little moment there.

I'm hoping this is the kind of Superman movie I'll want to watch with him in a few years.

I took number straight from article listed as break even since there are a lot of numbers being thrown out that are assumptions. Also don't think some understand what break even means, but that's just me being snarky.

That dude ain't human. Tell'em, Bruce. The first half of B v S is fun, and Affleck as a worn down, spiteful Bruce Wayne talking about Superman is pretty damn strong

That 2nd video was great stuff right up until Lex Luthor entered the scene.

Yes, I can't imagine any circumstance where Affleck's Wayne wouldn't choke out this version of Luthor just on principle

Still one of my favorite endings in any movie. This was perfection - the acting, the music, the script - all of it.

Honestly I could have done an entire movie where superman catches some random low level criminal in Gotham, people in Gotham love it and Ben Affleck is steaming mad about it, and that's what sets him off. Like it isn't about the people of Gotham. It ain't about the criminals. It's just about some ******* coming onto Batman's turf and Batman's the smartest mother ****er on the planet so even if it's Superman, bats is going to show him he's a force to be reckoned, and to not step foot in Gotham unless he has a invite sent by certified mail.

I was just thinking you don't see DC and Marvel release their movies that close together often so they must both be pretty confident. Supes and F4 are only 17 days apart.

I put their 2 release schedules side by side. The only time 2 of their movies have come out closer together since DC rebooted with Man of Steel in 2013 was in November 2017 when Ragnarok came out 14 days before Justice League.
TCTTS

That's interesting.

Filming for Superman took place from February to July of 2024, allowing for an entire year of post-production.

While filming for The Fantastic Four began a week before Superman ended (July 2024) and wrapped in November 2024, leaving only 7-8 months of post-production.

Curious to see if there's a noticeable difference in quality, be it story or VFX.

There's no way Ultraman isn't Bizarro or an early Doomsday

Having him gradually become Bizarro would be pretty cool if done right.

Bizarro Cavill would be the absolute best (from one of the pocket dimensions Lex apparently has access to), and would send the Snyder cult into a frenzy the likes of which we've never seen. For that reason alone, that would be my choice.

Either way, yeah, whoever the character is is definitely a surprise. The mask is too obvious and Gunn has been too coy.

By best guess is Bizzaro Corenswet, though. More of a thematic thing where Superman has to "face himself" to truly become who he was meant to be, etc, etc.

I'm a little touchy about spoilers regarding movies that I really want to see, so take this with a grain of salt, but I agree with this sentiment. I'll just take the non-argumentative route from here and stop checking out this thread.

There's a black-clad, masked villain who works for Lex, featured in all the trailers.

James Gunn just posted a close-up of him to his Instagram, above.

Official marketing materials call him "Ultraman."

But because he's masked, fans, this thread, etc, are simply wondering if the mask is to hide a true/alternate identity.

Naturally, some people think he could be Bizarro.

Others have speculated numerous different characters.

No one knows for sure, there have been zero credible rumors, and we're all simply spitballing. Which is what message boards are for. It's no big deal.

Dude, you know that there's a ton of comic book nerds out there, and I don't mean here on F13, that watch every single millisecond of every single trailer and every single promo ad so they can break it down in order to draw hits to their sites and be the one to break news.

Many people don't mind it, but over the years, I got tired of the trailer themselves plus online spoiler dorks ruining movies for me. I'm not joking when I say if the first trailer of a movie piques my interest enough that I decide I want to watch the movie, I stop watching any trailer after that. Literally it was Lost that made me stop trying to predict endings and surprises and plotlines and decipher crap from ads, lol. My son's the complete opposite and hates that I won't watch any spoiler youtube video before a movie comes out.

Like, I said, i'm super touchy, I know I am, so i'm just going to make my exit here and let you guys enjoy the fever leading up to a movie.

Plus there's a character in the trailers with laser vision fighting Superman.

I figured this wouldn't be a spoiler since it's an image put out by the director and not something from Reddit spoilers.
