Initially I figured it was a way to get his character to fall in love with his daughters dance instructor (real wife). Maybe that's Happy Gilmore 3.
Also, maybe his real wife got tired of him casing the likes of Jennifer Anniston and Selma Hayek as his love interests

51 year old dad of 3 sons and avid PGA fan checking in. I thought the movie was great! I literally was laughing out loud multiple times. Look, this movie isn't a work of art, it's a dumb, immature throwback to a 30 year old classic dumb, immature masterpiece. Sandler was great, and I like that he is using his real family where he can. That's pretty cool.

So many great cameos and throwbacks, too many to list. Best part for me was watching with my 13 year old who enjoyed it as much as I did. He's at the age where he doesn't want to hang with dad much anymore. So, I'll take a 2 hour window where we are laughing and having fun together!

This is honeslty all that matters in the grand scheme of things.

I watched this on the plane today, and I really liked it. Obviously, it's not as good as the original, but for a Netflix movie, I thought it was pretty solid. I thought casting John Daly was inspired. I didn't expect Shooter and Happy to friends. That ended up being a good little twist.

On a side note, Adam Sandler has to have the best life. He gets paid millions to goof off with his friends and family. What a life.

Agreed. I really hope this doesn't suck.

On that topic, how many original Netflix movies have actually been good? I swear every movie they make just feels like Netflix slop.

What's the deal with having to kill off Happy's wife in the first few minutes?

Needed a reason for him to be a broke alcoholic.

Agree with all the praise. It's a God's honest tribute film, and I love that. Favorite moment that hasn't been mentioned was Xander and the "that's what she said" jokes. Had me rolling. That and Will Zalatoris leaning in to the role.

I thought it was almost equal parts funny and unfunny.

The whole movie is dumb, just like the first, but a lot of it doesn't land here imo.

The running breadsticks bit was probably the funniest thing in the movie for me.

Was concerned when Virginia died in the opening 5 minutes and still don't love that decision, but I guess they needed that for this story.

Probably won't ever watch it again, which is a bummer since the first one is one of my favorite comedies of all time.

Pretty much exactly what happened to his dad in the first five minutes of the first one, down to the "after the funeral…" line.

I forgot to mention, I also thought Bad Bunny was a great choice as well. I loved how he kept offering people water and bread sticks.

It was alright. A few laughs. It's definitely better than any of the other streaming money grab nostalgia flicks over the past few years. Coming 2 was terrible. I haven't seen Axel Foley yet. Maybe this will lead to a Waterboy 2 sequel.

Axel F was actually pretty good.

Apparently a not insignificant part of the script was going to involve Carl Weathers.

We just watched it. I thought I was pretty damned good too.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it.

But Lavell Crawford (Huell) has had a hell of a stand-up and acting career.
