I thought it was almost equal parts funny and unfunny.
The whole movie is dumb, just like the first, but a lot of it doesn't land here imo.
The running breadsticks bit was probably the funniest thing in the movie for me.
Was concerned when Virginia died in the opening 5 minutes and still don't love that decision, but I guess they needed that for this story.
Probably won't ever watch it again, which is a bummer since the first one is one of my favorite comedies of all time.

I don't think its surprising at all that all the LIV guys go in on it. They all of the age the HG was probably on repeat in their homes growing up. They probably jumped at the chance to be in this

The reason people are surprised is the plot seems to have been a thinly veiled dig at LIV (and the LIV guys played tour players trying to take down the upstart league). Glad they did it and that wrinkle made it more fun, IMO but I can see why people are surprised the LIV guys participated.

Happy Gilmore 2 was just like the original. Super ridiculous and dumb, but it made you smile.

I don't see how you can compare these in terms of production quality, originality, storyline, etc. HG2 was made to basically pay homage to the original and make money.
Unless your standard is some Oscar worthy film, the original was comedic gold and pretty iconic.

I watched it again last night. There's so many little lines, things to see, and people. A lot packed in. But definitely agree Daly and Sheffler killed. Loved Slim, he had great lines.

The original was on this past weekend and I watched a chunk of it. I forgot just how stupid it was. But it made me laugh.
Just like the 2nd one. very dumb, but made me laugh.
I dont think it's deeper than that.

Is there anyone else in Hollywood with a setup like Adam Sandler?
He leisurely makes movies in great locations with hot women as his love interest; writes parts for all his acting buddies and family members; dresses how he wants; and includes whatever inside jokes he desires.
His movies can be dumb and not make much sense but people still pay him to make them and the audiences still watch. His movies are iconic and the characters are well known to people young and old.
He turned his SNL gig into a half-billion-dollar fortune and hasn't slowed down.

For sure. Getting fired from SNL might be the best thing that ever happened to him

Agreed. I really hope this doesn't suck.
On that topic, how many original Netflix movies have actually been good? I swear every movie they make just feels like Netflix slop.
