Not metal, but at least metal-adjacent:

They sounded really good at Power Trip last year. I'm also pumped to have The Pretty Reckless opening for them who I really like but have never seen.

Been on a Pantera kick for a few weeks...
Not a popular opinion. Pantera died with the Abott Brothers. The guys are just cashing in. Buy I guess if people are paying for it.

So we can't listen to music of artists who have passed away?

Cowboys from Hell and Far Beyond Driven is a weekly staple for my long commutes

If there are any Carcass fans here, might enjoy Shrum. One album affair from the bassist of Acid Bath. Definitely sounds like a Jeff Walker doppelgnger. Tears of a Marionette has been on replay.

Im gonna guess that nearly all AC/DC fans are also fans of classic metal. Same for KISS.

I never stated anything close to that. But you can read whatever you want in to it.

Thinking about seeing Kerry King live at Emo's in Austin in February.

$46/GA

Worth it you think? Sounds like a fun metal show

If any of you Houston folks like seeing the smaller metal bands play, my son plays guitar for The Creeps. Their IG is @thecreepstx and they have a few of their songs on Spotify. Some young dudes rocking out. They're working on some new songs currently. They post most shows on IG and FB.

Killswitch Engage fans in here?

They are releasing their first new album since 2019 called this consequence.

I've always enjoyed listening to them. I'd like to see them live this year but according to their tour, they are only going to El Paso. kublai khan tx is also on tour with them and those dudes are amazing!

Love their older albums, End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies.

Do you know Parkway Drive?

Do I know them? Of course!

I saw them for the first time at the hardcore stage at Warped Tour in 2010 and fell in love!

Parkway Drive is a daily listen for me. I love their guitar tones.

A buddy of mine went to see Kerry kings new band. Said it was awesome. Crowd went crazy when they played some slayer songs. I gave his album a listen and enjoyed it. Excited to see Phil demmel shredding again post Machine head.

Divine is such a ridiculous song. Every instrument is showing off and the songwriting and precision of everything couldn't be better.

New Ghost on the way in April! Loving the new single.

Still deciding about Papa V's look but I think it'll grow on me. Biggest note may be moving away from the full mask… will be interesting to see how that impacts Tobias' live sound.

Actually also don't mind bringing in some individuality to the Ghouls as well.

Ended up watching the documentary Murder In the Front Row. For the unaware like me its about how the speed metal scene started in SF and how bands like Metallica, Exodus, etc started. A good watch if you haven't scene it.

i'm a little late but definitely wasn't expecting to see a shrum reference on TA. if i ever come across a time machine, i'm going back to blow up the vehicle of the drunk driver that killed audie and saving acid bath. as much as i love all of the dax projects and goat*****, i miss acid bath. when the kite string pops is a top 3 all time album for me.

unrelated, but been listening to the new year of the cobra record this morning, haven't finished it yet but so far im liking it.

I love both albums. Might even like PTT even better by a little. And agree, I like some of his solo stuff (he just released a new solo album last month btw), it isn't Acid Bath.

that intro is so reminiscent of the ghost that I first discovered back in 2013.

I was listening through old tracks and realize where the familiarity is coming from..

at the 2:22 mark. Major vibes of this sound/production/overall feeling.

The Creeps are headlining Grungefest at Warehouse Live on March 27th. All 3 bands will play some covers of 90s grunge music and some of their original songs. Come out and see the local bands rock the stage!

Killswitch Engage celebrate 25 years with their new album The Consequence. No new ground here but 35 minutes of what makes them a great metalcore band. The ending songs Collusion, Fall of Us, and Broken Glass are my favorite part of the album.
