We've had this conversation a dozen times.

And every single of them begins with you and a handful of others expressing negative opinions toward something, which is totally fine. It's a message board. Express whatever opinions you want.

What rubs me and others the wrong way is when either I or someone else posts in response, "Actually, I have a positive opinion because of X, Y, and Z," and you IMMEDIATELY get all defensive, play the victim, and start accusing us of "policing" you, playing message board mod, snuffing out dissenting opinions, etc.

When, in reality, you expressed your opinion, then we expressed ours. That's it.

Over and over again you're the one who's allowed to vent, but then the second someone says, "Actually, I like the thing you dislike, and here's why," you get all pissy and start getting personal like you just did, insulting me about being on here all day or whatever. Then I'll say something that you find insulting and you'll accuse me of getting personal with you, as if you're Mr. Innocent Above It All.

It's the same old crap.

I wasn't goal tending, to be clear. I was expressing confusion about why people were quick to question/assume Nolan's movie being "woke" with no proof. Nothing in the trailers or promotion of the movie is showing that and nothing in his past films has shown that. Engage with that if you want or don't, but don't flip it as goal tending. You don't have to like his movies or think he is a great director to give him the benefit of the doubt on the political leanings (or lack there of) of his movies. That was my point.

If you express an opinion opposite his at any time, in any thread, this is how he reacts. Always. Same goes for defending yourself in exactly the manner you're doing. Basically any time you differ from him in any way, even innocuously, you're "goaltending," "policing," "playing mod," "bullying," etc.

Huh? It's an excellent translation that uses iambic pentameter to try and recreate some of the flow and sense of hearing the Odyssey in the original. The result is a much quicker, snappier version of the poem that loses a bit of the depth of some other translations that expand out without the rhyme scheme.

I'm not sure if you peruse the internet much outside of Texags, but there is quite a bit of discussion as to perceived woke elements of this project, as well as nitpicking how different things look. I'll be honest, as a fan of much of Nolan's work, I truly thought I'd end up enjoying this movie, and the more I learn and see, the less sure of that I become. The same process happened with Ridley's Napoleon. I started off really excited, noticed a few red flags in the trailers, kind of hoped I was wrong, and ended up very disappointed with the final product outside of a few scenes.

The jury is still out on this one.

What can you find on the internet regarding this movie that gives you insight beyond what you see from the trailers?

I'm mainly referring to people on X and YouTube breaking down and analyzing what we can see in the trailers. Casting, the script (based on which translation he went with), costumes, the color/palette issues, sets, etc. Some people think it looks badass, but a lot of people are a little thrown off based on what they were hoping for.

95% of the time it's been for "name-calling," for which TexAgs has a strict, no-nonsense policy, and those have only ever been for 24 hours at a time, and maybe for like three days once or twice. Not for "bulling people on this board." Yes, one time I was banned for three weeks, but that was because a, shall we say, infamous poster was defending Russell Brand against rape charges, he said something insane about his own daughters and rape, and I simply said I felt sorry for his daughters that he was their father. That's it. I admit it was probably over the line, but it wasn't some unspeakably terrible thing, nor was I "bullying" anyone.

What's hilarious is that you A) bring this "banned" thing up all the time, in exaggerated fashion, B) act like it's proof I'm some horrible person, and C) almost seem to equate it with me getting in trouble with the law or something, as if it's part of some "permanent record" I have.

All the while, during this entire exchange, YOU'VE been the one insulting ME just the same. In fact, your entire response just now was pure deflection, not addressing your own posting behavior in any way. It's always endless accusations from you, never once looking in the mirror.

And you have a very persistent problem with taking things too personally when people express their positivity for a project you have negative feelings toward (even if only slightly). You're literally doing it right now.

He's the mod who keeps getting banned? What's your argument? How is he controlling you? You seem like you're free to speak your own opinion, from what I see.
