Only the second time I've cried since my father's death was the morphine comfort care scene.

My mom, sister, and I made the call to help him over the hump to prevent suffering in his final minutes or hours.

He passed away almost 4 years ago. I did NOT expect that reaction as the emotion was a sudden blindside.

Sorry for your loss, that was a tough scene. It made me think about a couple of friends I've lost over the years that I never got to say goodbye to when Cassie was talking to the oldest son. Everything that's played out with the husband has been tough to watch because he's not ready, he's in a panic, and he doesn't know what to do. It makes you wonder how anyone is supposed to process that whether you're the one with a terminal health issue, or one of the kids. I think the biggest line that hit me was when she said "you know I didn't always look like this."

There are certain scenes that get me. I related to you a lot here because I was there holding my dad's hand bawling when he peacefully passed. The other scene that about killed me was in Yellowstone when Kevin Costner took Dabney Coleman out of bed and on a horse to go die. I cried for what felt like HOURS after that.

How come the Pitt can see patients with their systems down but the other hospital can't see patients with their systems down?

When you work in a county environment, you're considered the last line of defense and for the most part since you take city/county funds, you are expected to work through whatever may be happening. Other private hospitals will cut back because of liability issues or because they may lose money, the county ones will just press on.

seems like that could be a pretty big black eye for the private hospital. no?
