Would be cool if they did flashbacks and included all the extra scenes from the book.

All I want is Round 2 of Cliff and Bruce Lee

The sudden doubt in Bruce's face when they mention Cliff got away with killing his wife is the all-timer for me.

I agree, but I think if the guy had said "that guy won 2 Congressional Medals of Honor" it would have scared him more.

wasn't Cliff a war hero in WWII?

now that would be AMAZING to have a nod to his experience

From Jeff Sneider...

- Tarantino apparently received $20 MILLION for the script, which, if true, has to be some kind of record.

- Abduel-Mateen playing "a former football player-turned-actor, much like Jim Brown or O.J. Simpson."

- DiCaprio is apparently still in the mix to potentially appear in what I assume would be an extended cameo.

Quote:

Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (HBO's Watchmen) is set to join Brad Pitt in David Fincher's follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, aka, the untitled Cliff Booth movie. Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan will co-star in the film, which was written by Quentin Tarantino. I'm told he received $20 million for his script, and Netflix has also offered Leonardo DiCaprio millions of dollars to reprise his role as Rick Dalton in a cameo. Cliff Booth will be a fixer in this movie, and Abdul-Mateen II is expected to play a former football player-turned-actor, much like Jim Brown or O.J. Simpson. Aldis Hodge (Cross) had been tipped for the role in recent weeks, but it appears that Abdul-Mateen II ultimately won out. That makes sense, as he stars in Netflix's upcoming Man on Fire series, as well as the Marvel series Wonder Man, so he has a ton of heat within the industry right now. Tarantino, for his part, is currently working on a play as he figures out which of his many feature ideas will serve as the basis for his final film, which is expected to be financed and distributed by Sony.

Tarantino is currently working on a play....

Like stage play or working an angle?

Not sure I want to be sitting in the first several rows of a Tarantino stage play.

For some reason, during the storms last night, I thought about this. Bruce Lee didn't really have his breakout movie until '72. Manson murders were '69. It would be cool to have this movie set a few years later when Bruce is a star and meets Cliff again.

With early 70s music of course.

Would be cool, but the movie is reportedly set in 1977, four years after Lee's death.

So did Tarantino shelve the film critic movie? I thought that was going to be his final film
TCTTS

This *is* that movie.

The Movie Critic, which was apparently going to heavily feature the character of Cliff Booth, has now been retitled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth.

Basically, forever whatever reason, Tarantino decided that he didn't want The Movie Critic to be his tenth and final film, so he shelved it. Pitt thought the script was so good, though, that he asked Tarantino if he could take it to Fincher to possibly direct. Tarantino gave Pitt his blessing, Fincher too ended up loving it, and now here we are.

That said, how much of the script has been reworked - if it all - under Fincher is currently unknown. It could be the exact same script, except with a new title, or it could be that Tarantino or a Tarantino-approved mystery writer re-worked it to whatever degree. It's all very hush-hush and no one knows for sure yet.

Turns out the Cliff helped both his wife and Bruce Lee fake their own deaths.

Tarantino owns the New Beverly Cinema, which they've retrofitted for the '70s setting...

Same. I'm hoping it's a temporary thing for only part of the movie, or that the wig at least looks better on screen/in the proper light. No way Fincher-the-perfectionist would screw something up like that.

Just a psa for the thread-readers, make sure you read the novelization of the original. One of my favorite books of all time.

Was it his real hair in Once Upon a Time? Sure appeared to be. But is hair is definitely buzzed right now so it's either a wig or a buzz cut for Cliff. Hopefully, they come up with a better wig than that one.

Speaking of wigs, watched Charlie Wilson's war two nights ago and Julia Roberts wig was very bad.

The wig he was wearing that he took off before beating Bruce Lee's ass was awesome.

Quentin Tarantino says David Fincher is the right choice to direct his 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' sequel because they're 'the two best directors'

"The idea that he actually wants to adapt my work shows a level of seriousness towards my work"

He estimates the budget for the film is ~$200M

Tarantino is actively involved with filming
