I was looking for a thread on this the other day and meant to start one.

I started late and just caught up with the new ep this week, it's getting really good. Kind of a Breaking Bad light theme, really great performances all around and a fun concept. As a not especially serious watch guy I also enjoy their little highlights on how much certain things are worth and their "status".

Definitely worth a viewing.

That was great, he actually seems like one of the few decent people on the show. Very much in the vein of White Lotus where they pretty much all suck.

Expected a thread on this show for a few weeks and glad to see one started. Nothing too deep but an enjoyable show to this point. Always has me wanting the next episode right away.

The visuals of the title sequence are killer though.

again, a plot hole wide enough to fly a wide body plane through.

somehow I am supposed to believe Jon Hamm who was a crappy dad and a really bad husband,

now suddenly he is outraged at his cheating wife who is like an 80 year old anorexic...

when he is hitting THIS now instead?!?!

in real life he would be thanking that NBA player every single day!!

and as if a real NBA superstar is going to be settling down with an 80 year old white anorexic and her two kids and just hanging out at the country club with his white Hedge Fund buddies!

He's had a number of familial flashbacks that seem to indicate to me that he really did love having a family and his wife.

The scene of the apartment, when he's in the kitchen seeing his kids at breakfast time, etc.

I think you guys are overlooking the idea that Don Draper decides he would prefer to fence stolen goods for pennies on the dollar rather than swallow his pride and take a "lesser" job.

Obviously, that decision is crucial to the show, but it becomes more of a stretch as time goes on.

Thought this was easily one of the best episodes the season so far.

Gonna watch late tonight, looking forward to seeing how they follow up last week's cliffhanger-y ending that wrapped back around to the very start of the season.

Amanda Peet has looked like death warmed over for the last decade- her being skin and bones doesn't help

the two hottest women are the Korean wife and Olivia Munn.

Big episode tonight. Not sure how Coop gets out of this one.

I fully admit that I may end up loving whatever comes next, but the show fundamentally changed tonight way sooner than I was ever expecting. The whole pitch was, "rich guy loses his job so he starts stealing from his rich friends," but that lasted, what, five episodes? I don't know, it's just when everything is built around a conceit like that, you expect that conceit to last at least a couple seasons. Anyway, I could be wrong, and they somehow find a way to return to it again, but tonight's episode, as tense and enjoyable as it was, felt like a season two finale at the very least, not episode seven of the very first season.

My wife even asked if that was the finale when it was over. Even if the lawyer gets him out, the cops are going to be watching him like crazy.

I've got some thoughts. Spoilers, so tread lightly.

1. That definitely felt like a season finale episode. Makes you wonder what else they have up their sleeves to top an episode like that. Who planted the gun, where did it come from, who really killed Paul?

2. With episodes 8,9, and 10 still left to air, when will they tie back in that weird artist who essentially stole the priceless painting? Also, I'm missing the old lady from the pawn shop. I thought she really added so much depth and much needed comic relief earlier in the season.

3. I know he'll somehow get out of the pinch he's in but interested to see how they do that. It feels like maybe they've written themselves into a corner a bit trying to shock and awe us and leaving us with cliffhangers.

Just FYI, I think this season is only nine episodes, and if so only two left.

But yeah, totally in agreement with everything you said.

Great show - this definitely feels fast paced at this point so wonder where they are going to take it.

Completely anecdotal, my buddy hangs out with chandler parsons in LA. It's just chandler and a bunch of country club dads similar to the show. The only other NBA player he's met in 5 plus years of being friends is James Harden.
