Good eye, thanks.

Matty Matheson is EP on the project, and has a credit for a (different) role.

I have no idea whether it will be good, it could get too preachy given his folks roots and political stances, there's enough political stuff out there. I hope the music and his struggle are the focus.
But my larger hope is that all the people who grow up on post "Born in the USA" Springsteen will see how influential and innovative he was in his early years. He was one of the first folk descendants into rock, and helped allow for much of the later rock of the 70's and 80's.

Not trying to be a downer, but I just don't have any interest. Do we really need yet another overly self-important biopic portrait of a musician?

"… and once he's done that, he's going to repair the entire world."

I'm in the same boat, and it has nothing to do with his politics which I only bring up because some here have indicated that alone would prevent them from being entertained. If politics mattered to me in that context then I wouldn't have any movies to watch or music to listen to. I can separate politics and art from each other in order to enjoy things. I don't find Springsteen interesting or entertaining, his music doesn't do anything for me and I grew up in a house with a parent that really liked his music. I don't begrudge his success, I honestly just don't get it. I really like Jeremy Allen White and he's so great on The Bear, but even with that going for the movie it doesn't move the needle for me. FWIW I was agnostic on A Complete Unknown and I ended up enjoying it, I do like a good bit of Bob Dylan's music so I don't know if that impacted my experience.

That last line about healing the world is enough to tell me this movie isn't for me.

Can we just get a Walk Hard sequel instead?

I'm a fan and admire that he does care to put on a good show.
Several years ago I remember reading an article in the Austin newspaper interviewing the guy who was in charge of booking for the Erwin Center. He was retiring after many years and they asked him what some of his memorable moments were. He said they often withhold some seats from sale until the stage is set up so they could tell which seats would have a view of the stage and which would not (and therefore wouldn't be sold). He said typically a low level tour management person would go around with an Erwin Center employee on the day of the show to tell them what to release for sale. He said when they booked Bruce he was shocked when Bruce himself showed up and went around sitting in individual seats approving or rejecting them for sale. I've seen him with the E Street Band and solo acoustic (on The Ghost of Tom Joad) and he definitely works hard at his craft.

Fake news.

Because Springsteen isn't either neutral or right-leaning politically, he is thus a hateful, evil person, incapable of good, and for his views alone in this regard we should root for his and this movie's downfall.

Also, just for good measure, having incorrect political opinions, according to one's own subjective experience, automatically makes the opposing musician's work terrible and inauthentic.

Everyone knows this.

(Seriously, though, that's awesome to hear.)

Hyden on recent Springsteen releases

Quote:

This is the Bruce Springsteen who is rightly seen as a national monument, the larger-than-life character who, in the movie about his life set to be released this fall, is believed to have the ability to "repair the whole world." The Bruce Springsteen who is adored by many
