I love this addition to ST canon. Spoilers for the 2nd episode:

Yes! This episode was a ton of fun! I like how they referenced the female first officer not working in the 60s, I took that to be a reference to Yarr from TNG not lasting one season as the security officer. Just my take.MiMi said:
'A Space Adventure Hour' was a very enjoyable hour of Star Trek. Loved the over-acting by Paul Wesley as Kirk in the captain's chair, loved the homage to prior malfunctioning holodeck episodes (The Big Goodbye, Elementary My Dear Data, and Ship In A Bottle), another reference that Spock is a descendent of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Uhura's speech, the attempted Riker maneuver during the blooper reel, and so much more.

I'm not sure I'm feeling the potential La'an Spock thing.

Not my theory (saw it on Reddit), but, there seems to be some thought that all of Spock's love interests in SNW are what pushes him to fully embrace his Vulcan side, as seen in TOS. Which leads some (I'm leaning towards it) to think that La'an doesn't survive the series. He suffers a ton of loss in love and chooses logic over emotion.

Maybe it's just me but they seem to be reusing older scripts. The holodeck one in E4 was liberally lifted from TNG and this one was an update of the doomsday machine in TOS.
I'm somewhat torn. I liked seeing a reference to the future tech of the holodeck, but I'm not sure we really needed it. And I liked the Reaver (sorry, scavenger) ship, but Starfleet used to be baffled by BDOs (Big Dumb Objects) because they were so rare. Remember "The Immunity Syndrome"?Mathguy64 said:

Episode 7 "What is Starfleet?" Will be a love it or hate it episode, probably more hate than love.
And the Jikaru life form reminds me of the plight of the life form from the TNG pilot, Encounter at Farpoint.
