I liked this season but I can understand why people are disappointed after the way Gunn hyped the last 3 episodes. He's terminally online and can't help himself

The podcast with Gunn really highlighted that Salvation is truly a big part of the DCU moving forward

The problem is Gunn himself said this episode was THE craziest episode of Peacemaker he's ever done. I'd posit the orgy episode or even last week's episode was way wilder than this one.
I'd also say the S1 finale was crazier than this this one and still had an emotional punch. You had poor Economos having to admit he dyes his beard and Chris feeling guilt over the agony it caused him and the guilt of killing his father the episode before.
If Gunn is referencing all the crazy doors they opened I found that all just a bit goofy/silly rather than crazy. The first door looked like something straight out of Wreck-it Ralph. I was waiting on Ralph to show up and save the day.
I will say, I am loving Oh Lord by Foxy Shazam after not really being a fan 8 weeks ago.
This felt more like a mid season cliffhanger and we are going to have a three year hiatus until the second part comes out. I liked this season but it did not feel complete.

Yeah, I was not a fan after Episode 1 just because it was such an abrupt change from the Wig Wam song. But during the intro of Episode 2 I paid attention to the lyrics and not only appreciated how well it fit this season but just started loving the song in general.
I cannot get it out of head. Just found myself humming along to it in the office.

Checkmate's slogan immediately made me think of this.
I get the letdown as I was expecting "bigger", but that also felt like a satisfying end to the arc (minus the Salvation ending as already mentioned). I will say the penultimate ep of this season was wild and really fun, and in this ep I did enjoy seeing the other dimensions they encountered (I was cracking up during imp world).
I really had no strong feelings towards this group after the first few episodes of the show and even after most of s1 (other than Vigilante being awesome), but it's amazing how much the whole crew really grows on you. Lots of great little character moments that make you feel like you understand them as characters much more than the typical ensemble show.
Will be interesting to see Lanterns with (I'm assuming) a very different tone.

The music has clearly been a labor of love for Gunn, but points off for making me google Nelson and having Chris call their single "Get Back to You" off a 2010 album a classic.
Nelson had one semi-popular album in 1990 when they looked like this according to wiki.
At least Hanoi Rocks had a pretty good backstory as a Finnish rock band whose drummer Motley Crue's Vince Neil killed via vehicular manslaughter while sporting a .17 BAC in the early 80s. And you felt like the show was doing them a service as they never broke.

i forgot this show even existed. Do they recap enough of 1st season or is a rewatch necessary?
Season 1 is a great watch.
They have a recap at the beginning of Season 2 Episode 1 which I think is probably enough. I did binge watch Season 1 the week before Season 2 started, so I may not be the best source since it was all fresh to me.
The Season 1 recap before S2E1 is probably all you need since they change some events to fit the new DCU continuity.

Finally got around to watching the official podcast show about episode 8, it was really good. Gunn gets pretty emotional talking about his dad and how it influenced how he wrote Peacemaker.
Also, Harcourt, his wife in real life basically begged him at the end to do a 3rd season so we'll see. I've got to think as long as they don't get divorced I bet we'll see another season of the show.
