Many of them are going in memory of their late husbands. It's an older crowd.
it's funny you say that. When I was in the merch line, I did see a pair of 60-65 year old attractive women who were in full on flirt mode.

And frankly, if you were in the market for a financially stable 60+ male, this Rush tour would be a great hunting ground.

But yeah, I think at this point we've all got friends who were around for the last show in 2015 who aren't around any longer.

Neil died just before the War on January 7th 2020. I lost a good friend at Age 49 to AML on January 17th, and Kobe Bryant died January 26th.

Having just spent a few days out here in Lotus Land, I long for that era prior to March 16th 2020 when Gavin Newsom locked the state down.

Annika followed Vinnie Colaiuta behind Jeff Beck, so this isn't her first rodeo in replacing a legend. And BTW, it was Jeff Freaking Beck.

As predicted, she did an interview with Rick Beato when he did the other 2. He waited to drop it until after the concert.

ETA. They did a really good job of protecting her before opening night. Rightly so. Now that she passed her "oral exam" and the reviews were so positive and the fans were so accepting they can take the veil off.

The interview is only 20 minutes. I'll bet there is more.

Oh god.... just that Tom Sawyer snippet hit me in the feels, total goosebumps and a few tears.

As a drummer Neil was my absolute idol growing up. I started playing in 1977.

The smile shared between her and Alex when she nailed it said it all.

Yep..... this......

And I'm full on crying now having watched all of Tom Sawyer video. Ugh I'm such a girl (no offense Anika).

But Tom Sawyer was the first Rush song I learned to play I think thats why it's hitting me so hard.

Found this video of Bravado with the Neil Peart tribute intro and video collage during - wrecked me again.

For me it got really dusty watching Xanadu. Right from the first song of the tour.

It was great. I couldn't believe I was seeing another performance from Rush.

She is now the most powerful woman in the universe.

Noticed the mention of designing a new hi-hat and ride cymbal for the tour, which is probably why they waited to release the video

Now you can order the hi-hats and ride

Setlist is interesting - very much career spanning however it is selective from the first to last albums but leaves out several completely (and mostly ones I won't miss).

5 songs from Moving Pictures and 3 from Permanent Waves

And most (15 of 22) are from 2112 through Hold Your Fire period so right in my heydey of 1976-87

*yes I saw the typo

But they have about 18 other songs they can swap out tonight.

I don't care who you are. You have to have absolutely massive cojones made of solid titanium to sit on Neal peart's throne with Rush.

don't know if Time Stand Still will be a part of every show - I doubt Aimee Mann is doing the whole tour - but pretty cool to have that for the opener.

Yeah I guess we'll see what the consistent ones are usually there are only 3-4 swapped for different shows but who knows.

I wondered if that was just an LA thing but we'll see.
The 2nd of 4 LA shows is tonight.

I'm hoping for Main Monkey Business and Mystic Rhythms at some point, just to see if Annika puts her own twist on them. Also, Working Them Angels, and more from Clockwork Angels.

Side note from looking at the 1st set list: is there a more perfect album side than side A from Moving Pictures? All of them are among the most iconic songs Rush ever made.

It's hard to decide sometimes between Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves.

My favorite Rush album changes every so often.

I would like to hear Headlong Flight.

Would also like to hear Malignant Narcissism.

Wouldn't mind either of those you mentioned first for sure.

As for Clockwork Angels yeah Caravan and The Garden are not my faves although both are good - rather have Clockwork Angels or Headlong Flight or the Anarchist. But glad it is getting some representation either way. I love that album start to end.

Side A of Moving Pictures is perfection. Among the greatest vinyl era sides in rock history. Which reminds me I always wanted to do a best vinyl album side of a record poll.

There are several full concert vids and that one on her too. Rush seems to have told YouTube to ignore the copyright infringements. They have been up for more than a day.

Currently the setlist shows all 7 parts of 2112 were played for the second show (first time since 1997). We will see if that gets edited later

This is why I'm going to 2 shows - both excellent set lists and not just a couple different songs - almost a whole other show!

Yeah wow 10 songs were swapped thats a significantly different show. And apparently played all of 2112 for the first time since Test For Echo tour in 1997

Now I have to go to a second show. On the last 2 tours for Clockwork Angels and R40 there were only about 3-4 songs different each night as I recall.

2nd night they did another from Signals, dropped Snakes and Arrows track, added 2 from Counterparts and dropped 2 from Grace Under Pressure and swapped out a few from same albums like

Witch Hunt for Vital Signs
Closer To The Heart for Natural Science
Anthem for By-Tor and Snow Dog
Headlong Flight for Caravan
The Trees for La Villa Strangiato

Holy crap. That set list is crazy. It's a totally different concert. I've never seen a band do that. Ever. And it has to be really hard for her. Not just a totally new set of songs but the ones that were the same aren't even in the same order.

If you consider the parts of 2112 as unique pieces that's 39 different songs in 2 nights.
