My 4 y/o and 5 y/o grand kids told ME the Easter story. Without prompting.

The complete faith and simple belief brought joy to my heart. I am a blessed man.

Happy Easter!

And no discussions about theology. Just the simple Gospel. And simple faith and joy.

I could learn something from them.

Yep. Our Greek friends make this a lot for Orthodox Easter.

That's funny. My 3 year old girl did the same thing when I tucked her in last night. Told me the story about Jesus on the "ross" (still working on pronunciation).

She ended the story with "He is risen" with a huge smile and gave me a big hug. It's a memory I'll cherish forever!

Love this dermdoc thanks for sharing! I am a recent reborn believer and find myself in a very childlike knowledge of Christ and what he did on the cross, and feel just as your grandkids in a sense. I thirst for Godly wisdom, and more understanding of who Christ is. Sometimes I find myself disappointed in my lack of knowledge when around other strong believers in church or around me (including many on this forum like you and others).

I really enjoy your posts but see a few threads every once in a while of posters "gently arguing" about theology which I think is a great thing for us all to grow. I find myself in alignment with a lot of what you believe, but also side with other posters sometimes too. Can you tell me what you believe? I see Calvinism being thrown around a lot in discussions etc.

Or maybe like you said, that I shouldn't worry about that and your grandkids are a great representation of how we should all be. Simple faith and joy. Believing in the Gospel and what Christ did for us.

I heard R.C. Sproul say one time "I think about the first year I was a Christian I was on fire. I wanted to win every person I met. And I grew more mature, but I also wasn't as zealous and I would say keep pouring that gasoline on that fire." Right now I find myself on fire for Christ. Wanting to tell everyone who He is, what he has done for us. For you and me. And I pray I don't get to the point after years of knowledge where I miss that and focus too much on theological debates about whose right or whose wrong. But keep the simple Gospel, with simple faith and joy about who Christ is and what He's done.

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for the kind words.

Definitely not Calvinist in any way. I believe God gave us free will to accept or reject Him. I believe God desires to save all men but will not force Himself on anyone.

I believe the Apostle's Creed. I believe the Gospel is primarily about repentance (changing one's mind) about how to live this life and bring the Kingdom of God to earth as stated in the Lord's Prayer.

After that, I honestly do not know who is right on a lot of things. And I am not sure we are supposed to know for sure.

God's grace and our faith. Pretty simple.

I will look up the Apostles Creed thanks for sharing.

If God is the creator of the universe and is all knowing, wouldn't that mean He already knows who will be saved and who won't? Is that Calvinism in a sense?

I believe in free will too, but in a sense that gives us the power to accept or reject him? I view myself as a wretched sinner in need of his grace and mercy. It scares me to think I'm in control of accepting or rejecting Him in any way. It's by His works on the cross and His grace alone that he saved a wretched sinner like me.

Sounds like you believe Reformed/Calvinist theology. And many fine Christians do. I do not personally agree with that theology.

Question if you do not mind.

Did you come to that theology on your own reading of the Bible as guided by the Holy Spirit!? Or are you attending a Reformed
Church and learned it there.

Happy Easter and be filled with the joy of the Spirit.

Like I mentioned, I'm a "new" believer. Well, technically I always thought I was a believer for my entire life. Grew up in a Christian home etc. but I like to call it "Cultural Christianity." I thought I was saved, but rarely went to church, got drunk on the weekends etc. I kept living differently than what I said I believed. I was "actually" saved in March 2023 and reborn then.

As I'm sure you agree, theologies kind of throw a wrench in our understanding when all that matters is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross.

Great question. I would say I came to that understanding from reading the Bible and praying to Jesus to open my eyes, change my desires to His and to let me trust Him and His will and not my own. In my very limited knowledge I ALWAYS go back to, "what does the Bible say?" I believe that is the living word of God and where all the answers to our questions lie.

Happy Easter to you and your fam as well!
