" I want as many non Americans removed from here as possible for virtually any reason. "

How do you square this outlook with the beatitudes that Jesus preached and then told us plainly that whatever we did to the least of these so we have done unto him?

With the understanding that there's nothing wrong with removing people from your country who are not supposed to be there, and who know they're not supposed to be there, yet even though they have been warned multiple times that they need to either leave or they will be deported, refuse to leave.

Everything has limits, for a good reason. If I wander off into a restricted area of the Vatican, they will ask me to leave, if I do not leave they will call security and make leave. There is nothing wrong with them doing so.

Try an experiment for me. Find the most charitable and loving and merciful priest you know. Break into their rectory in the middle of the night and wake them up and tell them you need reconciliation immediately. Let me know what happens.

Don't you make me agree with you on something!!!!

I received news from a long-time friend at A&M that one of his grad students, from India, I believe actually a post-doc, was ticketed recently for running a stop sign on his e-scooter while heading out for groceries. He went to court, paid the fine, and thought the matter over. This week, 4 ICE agents, 2 masked, accosted him and ordered him to self-deport within 48 hours or face forcible deportation (to God knows where). When he asked for details, he learned that his documents had been altered by some combination of the CS police, the court, and/or ICE to imply undisclosed felonious actions. You can imagine what this has done to parts of campus. It is, simply put, an act of terror. People close to the situation, fellow believers, are seeing this for what it is, and crying out to God over this injustice, and having to accept that it's happening all over. This student boarded the first plane he could get on, and didn't even have time to speak to his advisor.

We are grown-ups here. We all know that life is not fair, and the world is not just. What is bothering me is how many people I know seem to think there's nothing wrong with the story I just told...that it's okay for the United States of America to function this way. Case in point - if I posted this on F16, the first sarcastic reply would have over 200 blue stars in half an hour.

I just wanted y'all to know what's going on. I hang in some circles that are a bit off the beaten path to most folks. If you think you can remain a spectator, I hope you are right, but I do not think you are.

This kind of thing is happening all over the country. The cover of going after criminals is enough for most who don't pay attention.

The facts are Trump's deportations are pretty well in line with both Biden and Obama. Look it up if you don't believe me. If anything, they are being TOO cautious. The funny thing is, neither side seems to want to admit this.

The big impact he has had is the southern border is finally not a flood gate. Border crossings have dropped dramatically. This made up media narrative of people being disappeared is just that, a made up media narrative.

This, and the f16 variant of this thread/lie of a story are my favorites of the site this week. Thx everyone.

Kicking out evildoers and other lawbreakers is absolutely the righteous thing to do. Even an 'honest atheist' I would think would agree. The illegal aliens are, again, welcome to take the free flight home and apply to come back legally, without lying about their persecution.

How about denying people due process, holding them indefinitely in detention without habeus corpus, or kicking out people with a legitimate fear of violence if they are sent home? All of that good and moral in your world?

How about more 'none of that has happened.' I think the primary examples would be 'Maryland Man' who was a professional human trafficker for many years, and, maybe some made up ideations as per this thread?

I feel great about our government acting for the collective good to arrest, detain, and deport these folks;

Getting political prisoners freed from socialist-paradise Venezuela is an objective moral good, as is getting rid of TdA from our country.

Political asylum? There is a process for that the doesn't involve border crashing tactics. Economic asylum? No, we have no ordained process for that. Get in line like everyone else.

Everything I shared is first-hand, summarized, but copied directly from the verbatim account of the self-deported individual. One thing I got wrong is that he was given 24 hours, not 48.

There are some details that I would like to have filled in from his account, and if they emerge or anything changes, I will post here. But this is not a FOAF story.

As for the other F16 bleedover onto this thread, it only reinforces why I posted the story here.

Wow. Really?

What public reports are there of ICE actions in Bryan/College Station? All I know is that a College Station resident (a white guy) was charged as part of the coordinated attack/attempted murder of federal agents/police recently. I would think, if Indian national students (legal or otherwise) were being 'threatened' or encouraged to self-deport by ICE agents, this would be found on many social media and media outlets.

Sure, I know how to look up a word, but what it means at TAMU, I don't know. Every company, government, and university makes up titles like VP, CEO, President, Chancellor, Prime Minister, Executive VP, chairman...heck, I'm a fellow, but I don't even know what that means. My email is atm94unc98 at the Google if you want to see it. If not, don't.

We don't know if it's ok or not because we don't know why he was detained. I agree notification and communication should have been facilitated by now but it's at best an incomplete picture of what is/has been going on with him.

Ultimately, a lot more of this is going on than 'possibly innocent 40 year old post-doctoral candidates held at an airport facility for unclear reasons.'

And the result of all of this is preventing human slavery/child trafficking, an absolute moral/philosophical win:

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There are many in this nation who think that "Ordinary Men" couldn't happen here because we are a "Christian" nation. But if we were truly a Christian nation, we would understand that Christian theology explains the phenomenon perfectly.

Why do we keep highlighting people who have had decades to pursue citizenship and haven't as 'victims'? Do you put any responsibility on these people to seek citizenship, given that we're paying tax dollars for their children and research? Do they have any culpability for their situation? Is enforcing laws a 'bad' thing? Are you a good judge of their character based on these highly politicized and slanted articles?

Edited for clarity.
