Looks to me like 50.7% of District 23 voters are the losers. You're now going to get a Dem vote (on things that matter anyways) for the next two years regardless of the results in November.

I used to live in TX23. Moved away, so didn't get to vote in this last election.

This is a mixed district. It goes all the way from my old neighborhood in San Antonio to the border. Lots of blue counties in that district. As much as I love Ted Cruz, he probably loses the total vote for TX Senate in my district. You need to run a "softer" Republican than Cruz if you want to win this district.

(R)Quico Canseco was more Cruz-like in his voting. And lost after one term. So, then I had to live with Pete Gallego (D) as my Rep. (R) Will Hurd beat Gallego and was a welcome change. He was hated here by the "True Republicans" who called him a RINO, but he voted 65 percent-plus with the Republicans. That's compared to LESS THAN 10 percent of the time that Pete Gallego voted "correctly."

(Those numbers are based on the ACU representative rankings).

Gonzales isn't the ideal representative... but if he gets seated, he votes for the (R) speaker, and he votes for the (R) bills 60-70 percent of the time. I'll take a RINO like him in that seat over a line-toe'ing (D) 100 times out of 100.

Fight your battles where it makes sense. Flip a soft (D) district to an (R) and the right bills will get to the floor, and it might pass with neither of those R's voting for it, but the rest will.

Chess, not checkers.

Now, someone help me vote Henry Cuellar (my new rep) out of office. Ought to be easy, with his corruption case in full swing!

Whipped buttocks is an opinionand apparently quite true considering the Texas GOP was against him and spent at least $100k on direct mail to defeat him according to the allegations in the last article I posted. Vouchers are a progressive, free spending policy worthy of Biden Democrats, but that's an opinion.

I didn't post in a "TX-23" thread on F16. At least I can't find it and I looked back through Dec '23. Stickland and the Scorecard crowd aren't my heroes, though. I've admitted that and it's not a lie.

We actually agree in the thread on "Does Herrera Have a Chance" in that you posit the Rs need to stop thinking about compromise and instead elect candidates who will win the culture wars.

The problem is IMO, Herrera wasn't the right guy. Sorry.

Now he's gonna need all of that YouTube infliencer cash to pay his FEC fines for backdooring his campaign efforts through the Texas GOP.
