Okay, then, prepare to lose those votes in the midterm and beyond. If we cannot trust this administration to be straight with us about something so "trivial," there's no way in hell we can trust them with the truly important things. This goes for the Ds as well, since they also had their chance to release the information. But, then again, they never ran on a PROMISE to do so...

Because they are doing the things that most people care about a lot more than the Epstein files? That's why I trust them. They are doing what matters most.

What were the main reasons that you voted for Trump? Border? Crime? Economic ideas? Not Kamala? I don't know anyone that had "he is going to release the Epstein files" on their top 10 list of reasons to vote for Trump.

You still trust the government? How old are you?

Guess.

I was simply saying that Trump is doing a good job. He is doing the things I was hoping for when I voted for him.

No one voted for Trump over Harris because of anything related to the Epstein case.

Incorrect. For a decade- Trump has been talking about ending corruption, "draining the swamp", being transparent, and "locking her up". That's what alot of voters expected. This Epstein coverup is the exact opposite of all those things.

Incorrect is your opinion. Just like I have my opinion.

Agree to disagree. I think most Trump voters think he is doing a good job. I think very few people care about this topic. It matters very little in their day to day lives.

Maybe not on this board I know 6 of my closest friends who voted for him are really pissed off and I think it will impact their thought process during the midterms

And the podcast bros are flipping on Trump which will have a real impact on the sub 30 crowd

So they will vote for a Democrat and their policies because of this? Really?

I THINK 2 of the 6 will. I think 1 will still vote GOP and the other 3 will consider not voting.

No shot, and if so then they are idiots. We already know that he flew on his plane a couple of times between NY and FL a long time ago. We also know that once he found out that he was a pedo and weirdo that Trump banned him from Mar-a-lago and Epstein was arrested in 2019 while he was President. I have high confidence that Trump was never part of the pedo ring. As it has been said thousands of times, if he were, then that info would have gotten out a long long time ago.

Yep. Well said.

So in which election do you see this impacting the most voters? Between which candidates?

Jesus, I'm not a political consultant. I have no earthly idea. But a random person just said that of 6 GOP voters he personally knows, this issue alone, as things stand now, might cause the GOP to receive only 1 of those 6 votes in the midterms. I mean, yikes.

I just wonder how that random person can tell us how people are voting if they don't even know who is running?

Don't people need to know WHO is running before making up their mind who to vote for? And isn't the next election 15 months away?

In some instances, some people become so hated for what they do while in power that voters will choose the other candidate, or simply sit out, just out of spite, regardless of who is running against.

I would have 5 out of 6 less friends if their single issue was the Epstein files. Dudes sound like closeted White Guys for Kamala.

Bomb Iran into submission, nah that was nothing.

Permanent tax cuts? Who cares!

Close the border, cut the human trafficking spigot off, shut down fentanyl? What good does that do anyone?

And don't get me started on tariff income, fair trade deals and an already booming economy. Certainly the next guy can easily do all those things in 180 days.

Nope, Trump didn't get me an updated tabloid story sod and my homeboys have to go vote socialist.

Holy **** some people are just funny.

Yeah but you're forgetting about original Trump supporters from 2015. Back when he was running as an outsider and not your normal GOP politician. The original MAGA base. Many of these people are usually independent or had checked out of voting entirely (because it really doesn't matter who's in charge). With Trump doing this coverup, he's proving he's just another corrupt politician like the rest of them. So those old voters are done.

Also humorous to see the libs, CMs and never Trumpers give expert testimony on what the MAGA base is and what they really care about. Lawd. It's like our own version of The View on this thread. Maybe that's why they are taking a break.

Not to mention he brought in anti establishment candidates like RFK and Tulsi, and promised Libertarians that he'd pardon Ross Ulbricht. He did a good job campaigning to independents in 2024

Nobody is saying the base is "die hard Epstein files or die" but many supporters are turning away after Trump told us we were traitors for wanting answers to the questions he and many others around him were asking on the campaign trail. He simply fumbled this issue and its okay to admit that.

How many is a lot? Will the GOP will now lose the House and the Senate in 16 months because of this? It seems like a LONG time between now and those elections.

I remember a lot of people saying Abbott lost their vote during Covid ... then he won easily in 2022.

Did you miss when Trump told his base that he doesn't want their support if they don't accept the Epstein coverup? This is not a single issue- it represents many issues: corruption, blackmail, foreign influence, no accountability. Not to mention that actual crimes committed.
Not supporting the GOP does not mean they vote Democrat. They may not vote at all.

If the economy is good, deportations continue, jobs are good, taxes down, border secure, gas prices good, etc at the midterm, I don't see Epstein or Trump's bungling of it having much impact. If those things aren't great, the Dems win the midterms anyway. Either way, I don't see Epstein having much affect a year from now.

Just my opinion and could very well be wrong but just the way I see it.

United control of government almost never lasts . . . .I doubt it will this time either. Trumps approval rating has collapsed with self declared independents since taking office and there are several newly vulnerable seats.

From everything I have read, the election map for the Senate is just too GOP friendly for a Dem takeover but but oddsmaker are showing them picking up a few seats. so you will have a 51-49 split including several very weak folks like Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins.

House will most definitely go the Dems.

Yeah but you're forgetting about original Trump supporters from 2015. Back when he was running as an outsider and not your normal GOP politician. The original MAGA base. Many of these people are usually independent or had checked out of voting entirely (because it really doesn't matter who's in charge). With Trump doing this coverup, he's proving he's just another corrupt politician like the rest of them. So those old voters are done.

So the GOP will now lose the House and the Senate in 16 months? Because of this?

What if "this" changes in the next few weeks or months?

I just don't believe that many GOP voters are single issue voters. And that this is enough to get them to vote for a Democrat who has some very crazy ideas.

I think few voters care about this topic. They care about the economy, taxes, gas and food prices, the border, safety issues, some social issues, etc. a lot more than this.

Agree to disagree.

I guess we'll see if the Democrats win the House and Senate in 16 months.

He's not really knocking this out of the park either.

Where is he missing it? Great first 6 months, IMO.

Just what are you TDS guys looking for in the Epstein files? I'd like to see them myself but if you're looking for anything other than a few flights between Florida and up to the northeast, you're probably gonna be disappointed. They were friends or acquaintances long ago and swapped plane rides but that's probably it. I can't see what distraction you're looking for.

I'm not sure it's 'TDS' to want to have whatever it is that's making the Republican party tie itself in knots right now brought out in to the open, like Trump said he would do.

You know...."Promises made, promises kept"?

You really should worry about the dem party. Not the R's.

GOP controlled House, Senate, and Presidency but we should worry about the Dems? Why can't we worry about the Republicans since they're in power right now? Do you think the Republicans are incapable of making a mistake?
