The weather patterns shift from year to year... Who would have thought.

No, we have to wreck our way of life while China builds hundreds of coal power plants

The ice age video with Leonard nimoy above had narration from John Facenda. He was the voice of nfl films in the 70s and into the 80s. I expected to hear "Staubach threw a beautiful pass to Pearson for a Cowboy touchdown".

I'm in central Texas. We've actually had a (comparatively speaking) really pleasant summer thus far until about 10 days ago.

Hotter than balls today

Agreed. But still not as bad as two years ago.

The Endangerment Finding will be repealed by the Trump administration.

According to Zeldin, "Repealing [the Endangerment Finding] will be the largest deregulatory action in the history of America."

Even better, he described the coming rule overturn as akin to "basically driving a dagger into the heart of the climate change religion."

Ordinary hard-working Americans ought to be rejoicing. This means that the federal government will no longer micromanage carbon-dioxide emissions.

I cannot stress the importance of this enough. Since 2009, the Endangerment Finding has been utilized as a primary weapon in the climate alarmists' quest to rid the United States of fossil fuels and regulate the gasoline-powered automobile out of existence.

By repealing the Endangerment Finding, Trump is basically lobbing a giant wrench into the climate industrial complex. I don't know if it will ever recover. Nor do I hope it does.

The 1930's was a crazy decade for weather. The Dust Bowl, hurricanes hitting New England, many blizzards. Record highs AND lows in several states (some still stand to this very day).

World population was a fraction of what it is today, as well as industrial production.

Climate happens.

Yes, and the earth is not close to being as warm as it has been

I don't think there's been a 100 degree day on my side of Dallas yet. Most of the grass around is still bright green; my yard has only just begun to slow down its growth rate.

Probably the coolest summer of my lifetime.

temp no longer matters - heat index is used because it is always higher and more dramatic.

A news feed on the tsunami started with a meteorologist discussing the tsunami ( weather related? - no) and then he rolled into the "heat wave" which was all "heat index" readings - not temps

You know, the guy who invented the heat index died a few days ago.

He was 93.

But he felt like he was 102.

Oh btw, John F Kerry served in Vietnam and Cambodia (supposedly) before throwing his medals away in disgust, and much later buying replacements. One of the bravest men he ever met, he also docked his yacht outside of Mass. just to avoid paying higher taxes ($500K), and made his money the old fashioned way, by marrying a rich widow.

John Kerry is a liar and a grifter who has made millions at taxpayer expense solely by being a liar and a grifter. Our forefathers would have dealt with him in a physical manner. He is a common thief who has looted the treasury his entire career.

Same with the wind chill factor in winter.....33 degrees and 30 mph winds equals a 19 degree chill factor .....but that bucket of water is not going to freeze. Just get behind something to break the wind and voila.....it feels like 33.

Weather is short-term and local. Climate is long-term and global. Just like one cold snap doesn't disprove warming, one hot week doesn't confirm it either. Climate science is statistical.

Umm, how about no. Climate Scientology is all about faith.

But the truth is finally getting out, more and more.

Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day. To quote Mr. FOIA from ClimateGate, "A miracle has occurred."
Yesterday's release of the DOE's A Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate is a watershed moment in the ongoing debate over climate policy in America. Why? Because for the first time, a major U.S. government agencyon official letterhead and with a blue-ribbon cast of authors (John Christy, Judith Curry, Steven Koonin, Ross McKitrick, and Roy Spencer)has published an open challenge to the central claims, data handling, and even the motivations behind mainstream climate science and policy.

This isn't just another technical report. It is a systematic rebuke of accepted climate "wisdom," and it does so with unusual clarity, scientific rigor, and (at times) a sense of humor often absent in climate documents. Most importantly, it directly confronts the exaggerated and politicized rhetoric that has dominated headlines for decades.

The Executive Summary from the DOE web page:
This report:
  • Reviews scientific certainties and uncertainties in how anthropogenic emissions of CO2 and other GHGs have affected, or will affect, the Nation's climate, extreme weather events, and metrics of societal well-being.
  • Assesses the near-term impacts of elevated concentrations of CO2, including enhanced plant growth and reduced ocean alkalinity.
  • Evaluates data and projections regarding long-term impacts of elevated concentrations of CO2, including estimates of future warming.
  • Finds that claims of increased frequency or intensity of hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and droughts are not supported by U.S. historical data.
  • Asserts that CO2-induced warming appears to be less damaging economically than commonly believed, and that aggressive mitigation policies could prove more detrimental than beneficial.
  • Finds that U.S. policy actions are expected to have undetectably small direct impacts on the global climate and any effects will emerge only with long delays.

And the truth shall set us free.

They bleed on and on about any hot weather as proof of global warming but ignore that last winter, many places set records for cold and then when called out on it suddenly it's "climate change" and the result of you not paying enough taxes for the the weather to be perfect always

while what you are saying is true , the hysteria pushed on all the main stream media uses weather events every single day to claim climate change - the true believers use it to support their theories so you can't claim weather isn't climate only when it supports your argument. Weak logic and why it isn't science at all anymore.

I'm not sure it's often thought of by many but our daily low temperatures have shifted more significantly than our daily high temperatures. Daily lows are often overlooked but from a statistical standpoint it contributes more, in many cases, to the increase in average daily temperature. Take sometime to research this and it helps to better understand the climate change discussion. Reno, NV, although an extreme case, is any interesting case study in increasing daily low temperatures.
