So do we think giving the GOP 79% of the representation of Texas when only 56% of the state voted for the republican nominee in 2024 is what the founding fathers envisioned. And yes its bullcrap when the other side does it too.

Who cares? The other side doing it is precisely why the good guys have to do it too. Don't be naive

Its cute that you think you're on the "good guys" side

What is your opinion of California, Illinois, and New Jersey maps?

The poster was waiting years to post that screenshot shot, like it hasn't been posted thousands of times.

Who knows what the founding fathers envisioned? They were pretty damned partisan too almost immediately.

And what is your solution? If the R's quit, the D's won't, so it would simply be throwing seats to the Dems.

Add to that the fact that they literally fraudulently stole what would be republican seats from Texas and other states and gave them to New York and California via the census. They didn't vacate those seats once the truth came out. They stole representation.

Redistricting is completely legal and ethical.

This needs to stop

Dems shouldn't be able to hold democracy hostage every time they're on the losing side of it

So after all their whining and crying about it during the presidential election, the Democrats are the real threat to Democracy (or actually the Constitional Republic)

They always are what they claim Repubicans to be.

That probably has to do with the fact the legislature only meets every other year.

Write them a letter
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

What are you on about? It took them two years because the next legislative session where they could pass legislation related to this was 2 years later.

If the state was apportioned so that every district represented the partisan makeup of the state, then the Democrats would get zero seats in Congress, because they'd only get 44% of the vote in every district. When you get 44% of the vote, you don't get 44% of the seats in a two-party, first-past-the-post electoral system.

If they really valued what their constituents needed they would have more voting power to wield than simply pouting and walking away from things they don't like.

The solution to stop this tactic is to change the quorum rule in the Lege from 2/3 to 50%+1.

Typical spoiled child crybaby response. Hate when the grownups take your lollipop away so time for a tantrum.

And yet, there's no clamoring for NY or CA to change THEIR gerrymandered states.

CA is at 83% D....

When the left starts demanding fairness from THEIR side (and actually does something about it), I'll start to care about this...

Give them 24 hours to return or their seats are vacated, and the governor can temporarily appoint a replacement until a time when new elections can be held.

Who would write the letter?

The legislature is out of session so they can't issue the fines nor write the letter.
