defrauding our government to obtain and continue receiving indefinite free stuff or being awarded BS contracts and grants, that we the taxpayer fund the government to be able to provide, has been far too easy for far too long.

i wish we weren't so divided to the point that half the country prefers socialism and needs a government-dependent populous because implementing anti-fraud controls to prevent and detect fraud should be something that is bipartisan. but it's not, sadly.

Funny thing is this is happening by the millions at all sorts of different levels. A few uprated codes at a clinic. A person applying for double benefits, "aid + care". People married but claiming single to get more benefits (because we stupidly give single persons more benefits), businesses filing for special statuses using token persons to get preferential contract selection or terms with government, all sorts of tax filing fraud to get credits, etc. hundreds of billions of dollars a year are bled out to the unscrupulous, from wealthy getting special treatment from political allies to poor gaming welfare.

Its endlessly frustrating to the moral portion of the population who do the right things and must still watch corruption and fraud skate by and be rewarded regularly.

Back when I was doing domestic work, there was a divorcing couple that was defrauding Medicaid, food stamps, the whole deal. We mediated the case, and opposing counsel, the mediator and I had to take a break and go into a separate room just to ***** about it. Pissed all of us off. We told them to cut that crap out.
