I still have a pin and certificate signed by Bush 1 in storage somewhere
Oh that's right! I had forgotten you received a pin for those. I was something of a tomboy back then so passing that test was never a challenge for me. I hung out with my older brother and my Dad, a/k/a "The Big Kid" tossing a baseball, playing volleyball or badminton or a game we invented called Womp Ball. Dad had an old set of golf clubs but he never played golf anymore. So he would give us his woods to hit your standard 10 inch plastic ball one could buy anywhere.
Our house backed to a big utility easement so we would see who could hit the ball the farthest. Hitting that ball with the wood club, it made a "womp" sound.
My Dad always played with us. From water skiing at my grandfather's lake house, to tossing around a football, to riding mini bikes with us...through the woods...at night...with the headlight off. Yeah we did some stupid things. "Don't tell your mother," meant we were going to have some fun. My Dad was a hoot.
