The program dates back to Eisenhower and it's been great because obesity wasn't a problem back in the day and then Barry comes along chains of the fitness requirement because he didn't wanna induce competition and body shame kids and big Mike turns around and ruins the school menus for the kids can't stand it claiming his nutritious. End up having a softer out of shape youth that's now transitioned into adulthood and the kids after that even gotten worse.

I did it in elementary school. IIRC it was a 90sec arm hang, 2 min of sit-ups and a 12min run.

I don't remember getting a certificate, but may have. Mine would have been a mix of Carter and Reagan.

I do remember getting the patches. I believe I got 4 of them w/ a red 2,3 and 4.

We also did Punt, Pass, and Kick...

It was a set of physical tests scaled to your age group/gender and if you met or exceeded them you got an award. I assume it also pointed out to the coaches who might need a bit of special attention as well based on who was doing poorly. I remember # of pull ups, timed # of situps in a minute, standing broad jump, and 600 yard run being among the tests in elementary school. Can't remember if there were others.

Here's what I hated about Fitness testing: It wasted most of 5-6 days of PE, and I loved PE.

We'd get 25-35 minutes of PE, and one day it would be spent doing Pull-Ups or Bent Arm Hang. You'd jump up on the bar for maybe 1-2 minutes, you'd have to sit on your butt the rest of the time watching Stacy and Thomas do between 0 to 24 pullups.

Do the same for the 50-yard dash, 600 m run, shuttle run, and situps, or whatever the tests were. It was like 2 weeks of just testing, and if you missed the standard on Pullups or whatever at the beginning, it was like old college football when you lost an early season game....you just knew you were playing out the schedule at that point, but no national championship.


It didn't motivate the fatties, and the athletic folks were already in shape. It just wasted a lot of fun PE days.

LT took a plea deal as he was absolutely busted for prostitution and they added statutory rape and were working to add in federal sex-trafficking charges.

He took a deal to plead to two misdemeanors one of which required the registration as a sex offender.

Is LT a sleazeball for hiring escorts? I would think so.

And Team Trump should vet their special guests a bit better, particularly considering LTs recent DUI which has then lead to more publicity on this as he failed to register change of address as a sex offender.

Never liked them because you take kids that have never done anything physical before and test them. Never seemed fair to me. They prepare all year for the academic test. I remember I used to get Xs on my report card for lack of arm strength because I couldn't do the bar hold. Train me and I can do most things.

It didn't stop you from getting a college education so I am impressed you persevered despite failing this. Good job.

You are referring to strict liability which Texas is one of those states. The constitutionality is still in question on this and deserves to be revisited. Whilst children should be protected, it is unacceptable to hold someone accountable for engaging in otherwise lawful activity had one of the consenting participants not have been deceptive in representing their age.

This is different than "should have known" or "she said she was 18 sir". The example I gave regarding a pole dancing club is that there are laws that the club owner and club worker are bound by regarding being of adequate age to work there. Obviously they have engaged already in deception by getting hired and / or the club owner is responsible. I would think same would apply for "escort" services.

Strict liability for statutory rape is an example of laws run amuck.

Sex trafficking of minors is a huge downside of allowing vices like strip clubs and escort services to operate legally (or decriminalizing prostitution).

I imagine the argument for strict liability is based on that, at least in part.

But that's enough of a derail on this, LT should not have been invited and trumps team should do better. I never liked LT ad a player nor as a person. Seems like he indeed is not a nice dude. Plenty of other respectable gents could have been there in his place.
