My first (deceased) husband and I lived in the mountains in a very small town. We had one of those huge satellite dishes. A remote that tuned it to different satellites. WOW! That was fun.

I could watch that night's episode of Dynasty at ten in the morning, without commercial breaks. I could watch Canadian TV, Japanese TV, anywhere. Then they started to encrypt...so...we got an unlicensed black box to decipher the encryption. Guess it was pretty easy way back then.

This is how I watched late-night Cinemax as a child.

Back when VCRs had analog tuners, I could get the scrambled channels on our cable system in pretty clear B&W by manipulating the tuning a bit.

I'm quite positive that just about every boy growing up in the 80s did these things, or tried to.

The struggle was real.

My room mate had cinemax, and when he was out, I would sneak into his room to watch Cinemax. When I heard the door open, I would quickly run back to my own room.

Ah good times in College Station.

What's creepy?
I was a poor student who had no money to pay for TV back in the 90s. My room mate was a PhD student with an assistantship so he got paid well. He had a cable connection. So when he would out doing research, I'd go watch TV in his room and because I was curious about Cinemax and the Emmannuelllleeeee show with Krista Allen (yum). Just to avoid any possible conflicts, I'd leave before he got in.

What;s creepy about it? I am sure you've done a lot of weird sheet in college so don't virtue signal here.
If you think that is creepy, some growing up needed here.

Anyway, not going OT.

Tonight's the night. For the record, Tyrus filled in for Greg on The Five.

I had almost forgotten about this.

It was a bit more of a Jonas Bros promo show. I am admittedly not a Fallon fan, but solid discussion with Greg.

Greg told a story from their younger days which was mildly entertaining. a went over Red Eye, host magazine history before that and a nice bit about his mother.

And a promo for host Fox Nation "game show" about being locked up then quizzed on whether news is fake or not.

A bit shallow but credit to Fallon for dipping a toe in the water and for Greg coming across as funny but not right wing unhinged as the MSM paints anyone associated with Fox News as.

Agreed. They didn't even hint about an elephant in the room, and much of that interview looked forced.

I like Gutfeld as a moderator and comedian, but once he starts rambling about stuff I want to turn him off. And I say this as a regular viewer of his show. I can only tolerate him in moderation.

I don't really get a chance to watch The Five much, but when I do, Gutfeld is great at delivering really good thoughtful and impactful points. His late night show Gutfeld! can be entertaining as he can be funny himself, he has some good guests, and his comedian writers that help him with the show lighten and give more comedic relief to political news topics. Usually Greg + two regular co-hosts (Tyrus, Kat, or a sub), one political guest, and one of several recurring comedian/writers - works pretty well.

...but that appearance on Fallon wasn't that good, IMO. I don't know if Greg was coked up or just anxious, but he was loud and talked really fast. Spent nearly the entire segment talking about his previous meeting with Jimmy that Jimmy didn't even remember, threw in some Trump punch lines when talking about his new reality gameshow that no one will watch, I guess as a bone for that audience, and that's pretty much it. These late night shows aren't serious, so I wouldn't expect them to get into Colbert's cancellation, Greg killing all of the late night shows in ratings, or especially current political and cultural temperatures with that audience- not sure what they should have talked about, but the time he met Jimmy story and the new gameshow weren't that interesting and seemed forced.

They'd be better served to avoid politics completely.

Disagree completely. Political comedy can be hilarious when it isn't one-sided and meant to be dehumanizing.

Equal opportunity shots for comedic sakes is always welcome.
