Too interesting not to serve up, even if it violates my self-imposed month long cease and desist on new AI threads.

This is Microsoft's Top 40 jobs at risk for AI.
https://fortune.com/2025/07/31/microsoft-research-generative-ai-occupational-impact-jobs-most-and-least-likely-to-impact-teaching-office-jobs-college-gen-z-grads/

As a former teacher, Business prof, Data Scientist, Outside Sales Rep, Stat Prof, Management Analyst, Tech Writer, Editor, and Author...

The only thing that I will soon be qualified for is 11B (infantry), and my flat feet should have kept me out of that when I was 19.

Save you a click... in next post

I'm glad I never took my career too seriously, except teaching.

I'll probably replace all of my staff with AI soon, but I'd like to wait to replace myself until I have enough to retire.

I'm in the top 5 (author) and I'm going to embrace it as much as possible without selling my soul to it. I think those that figure how to use it well will be able to eke out a career and maybe more. Today's fiction authors are tomorrow's directors of ai generated movies and television series.

People will still want to read/see original stories with unique plots. Now will it all be ai besides the plot outline prompt? Don't know.

Not sure how AI is gonna reshelve books, unless books become totally obselete.

That said, school librarian can be an easy freaking job.

I'm shocked that pharmacists aren't listed.

As far as authors and writers, I'm not convinced. As someone who writes frequently, I've turned to AI to help me get inspiration and phrasing ideas but I've never pulled anything directly from AI or felt like the writing was strong enough to use for my own purposes.

Can AI write a coherent story? Yes. Is it good writing? Nah, not so much.

All of those were on the way out or greatly reduced without AI, anyway. Several others on the list have had significant hits in the last decade.

From someone in the industry, look for healthcare to make significant movements to AI in the next few years.

Based on what we've all seen out of AI so far, both ends of the spectrum so to speak, it seems like an incredibly bad idea to replace historians, writers, editors.

I would like to know how AI is going to replace reporters. I get that it can read existing news stories and create new stories about those existing stories, but how is it going to know about current events unless you have a Reporter/Journalist write the initial story?

Interesting that is has Web Developers and Data Scientists specifically, but doesn't have other forms of software development. It seems like that has been the primary thing management has been trying to replace so far.

I thought human switchboard operators had been gone since the major telephone system upgrade in the 80s. Is there another switchboard operator beyond the old POTS that I'm not aware of?
