Am I the only one siding with the Muslim here? His time woman. Now shut up.
Several people say they don't see anything wrong with what he said. I disagree. He certainly was justified to tell her it was his time but rarely in professional situations do you seen someone say 'shut up'.
I was in Corporate America for 30 years and while I worked at many different companies, Big six firms, you name it and people were not angels, I don't ever remember someone yelling shut up in a staff meeting or conference meeting or something. You can get your point across without resorting to that.
Harsh words might happen occasionally, but you just didn't yell for people to shut up when they were talking in a meeting Unless it got to a very heated point, and that would've usually been situations with just a few people, not a meeting. And if y'all say that you experience that often, then you worked in a very different environment. I'm sure certain careers and locations would not even blink an eye at this.
He could've said it without being as rude. Now her reaction is over-the-top ******ed, but I would bet his tone mainly comes from his disrespect of women. Muslim men are not known for being kind to women.
I seriously doubt he would've told a man to shut up. But I can't say that definitively.
And trust me, I'm no wallflower. I'll speak up when I need to and I'll use strong words when I need to as well but I know how to handle myself in a professional situation.
At one point in my career, I worked in a building that had a consulate from a Middle Eastern country. It was in Greenway Plaza. This was in one Greenway Plaza, although I worked in several buildings over there at different times.
I can't remember exactly which country, but they were Muslim and they were all men. I had an office back around in the corner of our office that walled up against theirs. At least once a week I would hear shouting and screaming, and thumps on the wall. Like they were fighting. We were on I think the 3rd or 7th floor so when you would walk out to get the elevator, if one of them were standing there or even walked up after you were standing there, and I'm talking about the women, they would literally push you aside to walk in front of you. They wanted the women on our floor to know that we were not to walk in the elevator before them. And then since we were in front of the elevator getting in behind them, they would push around us to get out as well.
I also remember one time that the police came and warned us there was a guy that was upset with them that was sitting in his car across the street. They were monitoring the situation to make sure he didn't come in the building cause apparently he was unstable. That was fun.
The police came up there several times too. But because it was a consulate there were certain rules on what they could and couldn't do. So no, I do not have a favorable opinion of Muslim men. but I think liberal white women are horrible too.
