He does not think he can win the Presidency.

But he does think he can split the GOP vote in 2028 and hand the Presidency to a Democrat.
And he will do it out of spite. https://t.co/5O8TpGOMyt

If that is the case, why is he filing to run for Federal Office in 2028?

but libertarian!
literally everything this guy says and does is a sham

It has something to do with his principles and commitment to true conservatism (but not libertarianism) for sure.
There has to be a very simple answer here.

You know, I dont mind him as a Libertarian. HOWEVER, he had been elected as a republican by his voters to do republican things and not to become the anti Israel, banging Boebert, weird knock off piss poor copy of Rand Paul

Of course you do because Trump said so. (I Voted for Trump, it's ok to disagree on things with him)
And I agree but we all know Biden wasn't going to push to release it. But Trump could've just released it and a good majority of this blow back wouldn't have happened but he decided to die on the hill of defending the Epstein files.
And Massie did mention prior to the Trump admin. He has stated he was under the impression everything would be released when he got in office but when that didn't happen he pushed for it. I don't see how that is a negative on wanting to get transparency on something like this.
Epstein being tied to powerful individuals in the world is undeniable and is by no means a "Democratic hoax"

Why is it done?
So the person who is no longer actively running for office can continue to maintain a campaign fundraising apparatus, including a fundraising account.
He did it so he can… https://t.co/lJ4wuDjuC5
To the surprise of...no one.

A list of Massie votes which were at least arguably anti-conservative-
May 2013, voted against the Stolen Valor Act of 2013
November 2016, voted against an extension of U.S. sanctions against Iran
April 2017, he expressed skepticism over the role of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in the 2017 Khan Shaykhun chemical attack.
May 2017, voted against sanctions on North Korea.
March 2019, voted to override Trump's veto of a measure unwinding Trump's declaration of a national emergency at the southern border
2019 sent letters to Trump telling him to end unauthorized military action in Afghanistan and to end support of Saudis against the Houthis.
July 2019, voted against a House resolution opposing efforts to boycott Israel and the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement
November 2019, voted no on the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act of 2019
December 2019, voted against the Uighur Intervention and Global Humanitarian Unified Response (UIGHUR) Act
December 2021, voted against the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act
September 2021, voted against $1 billion of funding for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system.
May 2022, voted against a non-binding resolution denouncing antisemitism and opposition to Israel.
2025, voted against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. He never sponsored a recission bill to remove the overspending he claimed to have found.
July 2025, despite having never mentioning Epstein files during Biden administration, Massie introduced a discharge petition alongside Democratic representative Ro Khanna to force a vote on a law to compel the release of the Epstein files.
February 2026, Massie grandstands with Khanna identifying 6 unrelated individuals as being Epstein associates.
In summation, Massie has been a consistent opponent to Israel, a consistent advocate for Iran and despots throughout the world, especially of the Muslim kind, and an attention *****.
Syria was better with Assad, so he got that right.

It actually was better for the average Syrian, I would know.
But your right, its much better now with mass murders of Syrian Christians and other Syrians. Having pro sunni ISIS/ALQaeda leaders is certainly a beacon for peace and stability. LOL
Syria was stable before with Assad, that is fact, which is good for the SURROUIDING countries. The middle east runs better with dictators.

Well, when dictators kill everyone that even slightly gets out of line, I suppose that helps with the stability.
By the same token, the USSR was better off when Stalin was running it...

I'm not worried about the Syrians.
I was pointing out that Assad was a dictator that killed anyone that got out of line, like Stalin.
And you pointed out Libya and Iraq - yep, dictators that killed anyone that got out of line.
I didn't make a judgement about removing them or not.
Just pointing out why there was "stability" in those countries.
