There is no upper limit.

But the biggest solution to higher gas costs is to… drive less.

It's what we have done since the beginning of the automobile when gas prices temporarily spike.

If people pissing down their leg over higher gas prices could make your car run, we would be awash in so much there would never be concern again.

When the next storm happens, expect some period of spike from uncertainty until it becomes evident if Iran has any remaining ability to counterattack. From there we should get a better idea of what returning to "normal" happens and what that "normal" looks like.

Too much unknown for a reasonable guess. BUT… people should understand gas prices / oil prices did NOT spike in the manner most would have predicted following a significant action in Iran and the SoH being "closed" for going on two months.

All I know is rock at the pit is $2 a ton more, and will never go down even if diesel prices do. We run our trucks by the hour and didn't increase prices because they are old and paid for and we are now getting more work because our competition increased prices. We use to only do work in our network but one gc hired us for work on a solar farm and now subs us out for all the stuff he's too busy to get to. Then he gave us his contract for Swarco hauling glass.

Another guy that was awarded all the tree work for the state cutting trees along the highways realized he couldn't make money at his old bid price and passed that contract to one of our subs. He's grossing 40-50k a month cutting trees (you get paid by the tree) and says his net is 30-40k depending on how much stuff he breaks. This guys an animal though and cuts trees from daylight until dark.

I work from home, these jumps mean nothing to me and change nothing in my life.

Now for the truck drivers that are posting videos of themselves pissing down their legs about how much it's costing them to do their jobs, and regular people whining about having to cut costs or having to skip paying bills because of prices, that's another story. Sucks to be them, for sure.

As for normal, I'd imagine that would be going back to where things were the day before our attack, but that's just me.

Based on the invoices I see, those truck drivers peed right down their leg and into my mouth as a "fuel surcharge".

I get the overall point and no one likes a surge in prices, but it used to be more people understand pain and gain equations.

Best solution is end this war. We can't continue to sit in the unknown. Can't threaten Iran every weekend and say they are scared but never surrender. You either have to level Iran and make them surrender or we surrender no in between. The whole reason the anti war crowd didn't want it to begin with. No way to win.

I think it will help once Trump stops waiting on Iran to stop stalling and starts ending this war. Once that starts, and results of freed Iranians and assurance that Iran will have no means to have nuclear weapons, ever, things will turn hugely.

I hope he does it right before the 4th. Now that would be some major cause for celebration.

Easy way to definitively win- putting boots on the ground.

Trump's polls won't go any lower than they are right now, so he's got nothing to lose by doing it. Plus, the upside is beyond.

To me, he needs to do it ASAP. Guaranteed win.

The only winning move is not to play.
Unfortunately, government bureaucrats too often advise politicians that they can be morally justified in usurping power to solve problems and are encouraged to 'do something'

God wants us to have higher gas prices and stagflation? That seems odd.

Lord works in mysterious ways. He says you get high gas prices so the children of the world that Jesus loves don't get vaporized by ayatollahs and such.

Oil prices reflect global inflation, and inflation is the increase in the money supply.
Trump did not "cause" higher oil prices, per se. But his covid policies from 2020, increased spending under his watch, and now entering into a kinetic war in Asia all played a part. Life is not a single-factor model.

So he didn't cause it with doing one thing, but things he did are part of the reason? And if he didn't do the more recent things, prices likely wouldn't have gone up as much and as fast as they've gone in the past two month?

Did I get that right?

Ya pretty much. Higher prices are a reflection of the worldwide increase in money supply but some goods are more sensitive to supply shocks than others. Price elasticity, if you will. Oil demand is relatively inelastic, especially during wars, so even small supply disruptions can lead to price increases. This is why many people within the commodity marketplace wonder why oil and gas prices aren't markedly higher.

But when we have stagflation and demand destruction, which results in lower oil and gas prices, Trump and his sycophants can claim that pyrrhic victory as well

Some things I've seen are that China has a strategic reserve that they've been pulling from which has kept them from having to purchase as much on the open market. How big that reserve is is anyone's guess, because it's China.

Dont know, but over half a century later and different terrain and tech, and a president who likes making things go boom, I'd imagine our odds are pretty good by putting boots on the ground.

That or, without an agreement with Iran, this was can last much longer than need be.

Any boots on the ground would be limited places like Kharg Island. We have no desire, need nor manpower to occupy the entire country when 90% of them support what we are doing.
