Why is it so hard to win against a wishy washy old gay man in South Carolina?

The SPLC has probably been funding Lindsey too because he's an entrenched barrier to a real conservative senator being elected from a conservative state. Lindsey poses zero threat to the SPLC's agenda and they would never get a Democrat to take the seat so he might as well stay from their point of view. It's the same view that the left had of Susan Collins until they found an actual Nazi who was willing to run against her.
