I had to look up the quote because I didn't believe he would say something so stupid.

But, true to form, he did. Politically speaking, this is just another case of Trump putting his foot in his mouth. Beyond stupid to say 'you love inflation" when millions are struggling with it.

Any talking points about it being Biden's inflation will fall on deaf ears. Trump owns it now.

Instead of saying he loves it, he should obviously acknowledge it as a real concern but that his administration is doing X, Y, and Z to make things better. But nope, can't be disciplined enough to do that. Gottta pop off his mouth with a stupid comment like "I love inflation." Geesh.

Unless completely gutting the government and reducing spending by 75%, the inflation issue was always going to persist no matter who was in charge. That's because we are DEEPLY into a multi-decades regime of fiscal dominance. To unwind it is to break it, and thus, break the economy.

Now, I for one am completely on board. The only way we get back to a truly healthy and productive economy, not one borrowing from the future to prop up a failing current, is to get government and FED completely out of the way and let gravity take over no matter how hard it hurts. Then rebuild with a leaner government and less restrictions on people and businesses. Less dependence on financialization of everything, consumerism, and government, and more dependence on production of real assets.

Gasoline is up a massive 40.5% year-over-year, and energy overall is up 23.5%, accounting for over 60% of the monthly CPI gain.
Electricity is up ~6%, partly driven by AI data center demand boosting electricity consumption.
Shelter (housing) is up 3.4% and makes up over a third of the CPI weighting.
Food is up 3.1%.
Transportation services actually fell 0.6%, and used cars are down 2% acting as a partial counterweight.

And per my post above neglect that this 'surge' is entirely energy cost driven, which is not a permanent/tariff related costs at all.

Claiming Democrats as presidents are 'better' on the topic in the modern era when that data set includes Jimmy Carter, Soetero, and Xiden is at best laughable. Their sole economic claim really lays in the Bill Clinton budget years when Newt Gingrich was the House Speaker/appropriator after their beloved Soviet Union collapsed. He and Stephanopoulus would have spent out the wazzou if they had the power of appropriations at the time of course (and weren't distracted by travelgate/Monica Lewinsky etc. scandals).

Ya. I'm mostly of the view that it's intellectually inconsistent to be anti-DOGE, at least in principle, while also complaining about inflation.
DOGE didn't work out for a variety of reasons, but a first-order effect of the changes DOGE initially intended to implement was reducing inflation (as a function of lowering deficit spending)

Most US Presidents trusted Pakistan for some reason and paid the price. They never learn.
The only time it is okay is if we needed them for something, buttered them up (they love it) and used them and discarded them.

He does say some really stupid things. As if he cannot read the room. Sounds like "let them have cake".

He even said we didn't have certain skills in the US and had to depend on H1B to bring it in. Now he is technically not wrong, we do have shortages in some areas but the solution is not to bring people from outside willy-nilly or have India to use the US as a jobs program for their brats. Americans are hurting and that is NOT the thing to say however right/wrong the nuance is. Have the balls to say that H1B is bring gamed by corporations and foreigners and that we are doing something about it. All of this can be true at the same time.
