Don't get discouraged. We don't expect the bulk of our decisions to go out until the early to mid-March timeframe. Just keep checking AIS for updates and let me know if you have questions.

Also it is a competitive process and always remember if A&M is the goal there are many ways to reach that goal. Just let me know when you receive the decision and we will take the next steps.

Thanks for the information. We'll keep checking AIS (daily as usual). Knowing the process is very competitive, my son applied to TAMUG as well. He's prepared to spend his first year there at Galveston and request a change of curriculum.

Glad to hear that he has a good back up plan in place. Let’s just hope he doesn't need it.

I'm interested in being in the Corps. Does it give me an edge in the application process if I attend a Spend the Night with The Corps events?

The Corps alone does not give you an edge, but we do take into account what we call academic association. On the application you will report the various ways that you have visited campus, such as Spend the Night with the Corps, a Freshman Admissions Session, a student leadership program (i.e. SEAL, SLOT) and so forth. What we are looking for is that you have shown interest in Texas A&M University. This is just one small factor of the many factors that we take into account through our admissions process.

(I've spoken to you before).

My best friend's son is trying to get in to A&M. He has a 3.872 from College Park in the Woodlands but scored a combined on all parts a 1410 on his SAT. He is a senior.

He's been accepted to Baylor, tt, ou, osu and mizzu. He wants to go to A&M like his dad but is worried he won't get in.

How can I help this excellent young man?

Howdy!

I am a home school student and I auto rank in the top quarter with my diploma.
Is it possible for me to be admitted with my stats being:

Rank: Top 25%
SAT Verbal+Math: 1050
All 3 essays sumbitted
& 3.98 GPA
I was also in public school for 2 years and held positions in Student Council, DECA, and 3 sports teams. I have worked since I was 16.

My last SAT is tomorrow. I will update with my new score ASAP.

How competitive is it to get into A&M for undergrad these days? I was an auto admit for fall of 2005, and it seems to have gotten much more competitive since then.

It has become more and more competitive each year. Last year 31% of our freshmen class came through our holistic review process and when I started here in 2007 that number was more around 50%. Texas A&M has been seeing more and more high achieving students not only applying for admissions, but also choosing to enroll.

Hi! I applied to the business school as a transfer student around January 5th for Fall 2012. I was wondering if I would have to wait until may to receive an admissions decision,or if I could be notified earlier?

While most transfer admissions decisions can take until May, it is really up to the individual program to determine how long it will take for a decision.

Once a student meets the University’s minimum requirements (2.5 GPR, 24 graded transferable hours) the Office of Admissions will forward the students application to the individual college for the decision. Once they make a decision on the student and notify us of the decision we will let the student know their decision. So there is a possibility that the decision could come earlier.

Just keep an eye on your Applicant Information System (AIS) for updates and feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have.

I have always wondered this....Are legacy applicants given any extra consideration? I would like to think that A&M is a school of traditions and that a son or daughter of an Aggie is looked at a little more so that a non-legacy? We make so much of the tradition of future Aggies.

Legacy is not a factor in the admissions process, it was removed by Dr. Gates.

Howdy! I just recently got accepted to A&M via Blinn Team and accepted that offer right away and am really excited for next year! I just had a question

1)I know you have to apply to Blinn and I will be applying through applytexas do I apply for the Blinn-Brenham campus?

I have a quick question:

Is it true that the AIS is only updated once a week on Wednesdays?

how can AIS be down for multiple hours during a work day in the middle of acceptance season?

I would also like to know the answer to shotkiller's question.
