My daughter is almost done with third grade and it feels like every year there's regression over the summer. I'd like to know the best resource to utilize to keep her learning level where it needs to be. My wife works from home full time and sometimes I'm home, and sometimes I travel. The best thing would be if there's a site that has a daily lesson plan so that she gets daily course work, she also does best when there's a set schedule. Looking online Khan Academy is one option, I saw another site called IXL and we just don't really know where to start. If anyone has personal experience and recommendations on what has worked for your family it would be appreciated.

I grew up with a mother who was a teacher so when we were out of school we had a parent who was off work. Summers are stressful for us since we work full time and we aren't educators. I hate the idea of sticking her in front of an ipad all summer but we need something. We've tried workbooks in the past but she just breezes through them too quickly and they don't seem to do what we need them to do. We've done day camp before but they're really expensive and getting her to and from camp is also not nearly as convenient as getting her to and from school.

For math, nothing beats Beast Academy. I used it with my child during elementary school, and he breezed through the math concepts. He is currently on pace to complete Calculus BC in his junior year in high school. Also, this platform (later Art of Problem-Solving), is widely used by students who wish to pursue competition-level math.

Thanks for this recommendation, we decided to go with Beast Academy. In addition to the information I was able to find about it I really liked that you can do learning online and with books. It's a little more expensive to do both but I think that's worth it. We'll start it in a couple of weeks once school is out.

is this good for a kid going into 7th grade who is already pretty good at math? My son is an all A student who does really well in Math but I would love to have something like this for him to work on during the summer but looking at the website it looks like maybe it is only for younger kids. If not is there something else for his age group?

Check out the Art of Problem Solving instead for your student.

Our kids worked one grade ahead each summer in the Vacation Station workbooks (for example, if about to start 2nd grade, we did the 2nd grade review workbook). It took a minimal amount of explanation from me, but then they got a head start on the coming year's concepts (especially math). 1-2 pages per day M-F and they otherwise had the whole day to do summer vacation stuff. In addition, they had a reading incentive program through their school and they voluntarily read a ton of books in grade school. They were always among the better performing kids in their grade at a decent private school, and these things helped them have an advantage.
