I've been in my job with the A&M System for 3.5 years. Due to recent employee changes, I was sent a "revised job description" today that has to be accepted by May 31st.
The job description I applied to, and have been doing the job of to a T, has no travel. 50% is paperwork.
The new job description is 65% travel and I've basically been told "you have no choice." I get that Texas is an at-will State. I have mentioned to my manager from the day the previous employee left that my home circumstances don't allow me the ability to travel (single mom to a minor human and mom to 6 animals). I was told, "You're the only one who knows the material, so the responsibility is on you." Which is a lie. The new Manager that told me that taught the same thing I'm expected to travel and teach.
I have had nothing but positive reviews. There is no discipline on my record.
But the change in my job description means I won't be able to fulfill my job duties, therefore forcing me out
Can anyone offer any insight as to how this is okay? If my job doesn't change, I can plagiarize any number of articles and get put on a PIP, because that's how A&M works. If I don't agree to my new job description, am I out of a job?
