Game released today. The reviews are glowing everywhere for it. I picked it up to play tonight. Was $45 with PSplus and same on Steam.

Yeah this looks like the next JRPG masterpiece. Once I burn out on Last Epoch Season 2 I'm going to pick this up on Steam. Looks amazing.

Haven't watched any footage yet but based on reviews, this is way up my alley.

I feel your pain after picking up a Kuna. And now I want this game too.

This gives a good intro/overview into the turn based combat system - which looks pretty cool and innovative. Turn based may not be the entirely correct way to describe this system here...even though at the same time it is.

I am a few hours in. Absolute joy so far.

Loving it so far. Extremely fun.

Question: when you leave the first zone is it supposed to change perspective where the camera is far behind you and everything looks like a diorama? Or is it a video glitch?

That's just the overworld view. Think of it as walking on the map in classic JRPGs like final fantasy

Thx. That was my stopping point last night so I wasn't sure.

FYI...it looks like there is a bug with at least keyboard support. Lots of reports of missing key presses which I've seen myself. Not just with the dodge/parry keys either. Hopefully they get a fix out soon as it makes normal mode near impossible when you get a bad dodge/parry. The other keys it just gets annoying on when you have to double press to change a skill or target.

I've been playing on PC with an Xbox controller since they recommend controller over keyboard. Controller feels a lot more fluid over kbm

I'd describe it as a cross between ffx and ff7 remake. Needless to say…I'm in love

I have little experience with FF-type games. Enough to know I don't like FF games but to me, this game feels very different to me so far. I'm not far yet. Haven't even gotten to the overworld yet.

So far, I'm digging it! Music and storytelling is very well done. Combat is unique and seem to take from many genres.

I'm playing it on the hardest levels. Got stuck on a mob that one-shots. Persevered for a while so I can truly learn how to parry.

I'll have to wait till the full game gets going to see if I complete the game but so far, looking good!

Took a bit but the first side boss is by far the easiest way to get the zero damage boss trophy. Hes just before the first white light guy i think. If you get his parry down, its only like 3-5 rounds of combat. Took like 10 resets for me to get it on normal difficulty.

Bought on PS5 to support the devs. Not sure when I'll have time to play it

I cannot stand FF games. Just the stories, graphic style, and pretty boring combat kills them for me. That being said this looks pretty darn good. At only 35 hours though I will wait for it to go on sale.

Its 30ish main, 60 including side quests. For $50 that's a pretty good deal already.

I'm more intrigued with it only being 30-40 hours. Games that take 100 hours... ain't nobody got time for that!

Same here. FF rebirth was an absolute slog with so much garbage side content and very minimal main story.

play it on the hardest difficulty and you get a few more hours out of it.

Is there a running jump in this game for the platforming? I can only get jump to work without running and can't seem to find a long-distance jump ability (using keyboard).

Works fine for me on ps5. R2 + X to run jump.

I didn't even finish Rebirth because of that. By the time I got to Cosmo Canyon I was burned out. I'll finish it eventually but it's slipped into the backlog void.

E33 has been great so far I'm about 10 hours in.

The battle system is obviously inspired by Persona, and is almost identical to the system in Metaphor: ReFantazio (by the Persona team). Not a dog at all - Atlus mastered modern turn base and it was smart for this team to emulate it. The flare and fun makes a modern turn based game fun.

Overworld system is classic JRPG and this is where it pivots from Persona and is more final fantasy or dragon quest inspired. I like the overworld concept so another plus for this game.

Yep I found it - you can't map jump to the Numpad 0 key without it breaking run jump. You CAN press the numpad lock THEN map it to Numpad 0 (which shows up as Insert then) and that does work.

Finished act 1 this weekend. God this game is so good.

So far so good for me. So few games these days capture my attention.

Is there a way to save loadouts? I wanted to switch strategies but was too lazy to switch everything over and then back afterwards...

Dont think so. Best option might be make a save, change loadout and go run a few fights in overworld? If its not how you like, reload the save.

not exactly what I was thinking. For example, I usually run Gustave to hit harder but sometimes I want him to be more a support role.

Your problems will be solved beginning of Act II.

I picked this up yesterday. It is amazing so far. I really like the music all throughout the game but especially during battles.
