I was vaguely aware at the time that there was a crazy Maelle build but I didn't want to look anything up. I wanted to create my own and other than Simon, Lune destroyed everything. She even wrecked Clea in two turns.

Simon is a hilariously different beast from every other boss. Unless you have a near perfect ability to parry, he'll destroy you quickly. He's a pure dark souls boss with rapid attacks, the ability to wipe out any character who dies (as in remove them from the board so they can't be revived or saved), and team wipe abilities, which is why 99% of the people playing the game make builds to oneshot him.

Clea was nothing in comparison to Simon. The difficulty curve with Simon is extreme in comparison to every other boss. I get why they did it since he's optional but it's still lol.

Clea died before she could attack. Without having to stun her. Simon I had to stun to kill him without him being able to attack

Simon is nothing like a souls boss. Honestly he's crap. Hard and not fair.

He's what a souls boss is like pre nerf (e.g. Radahn both versions) and if that boss was put into a turn based game.

A whole lot of players got absolutely filtered on Elden Ring bosses pre nerfs.

Of course unlike Souls games, you can make yourself hilariously overpowered to match their unfairness. I oneshotted Simon in both phases. Did 386 million damage in the first phase and then around 60 million second phase.

This is how it should be with pure optional bosses in a game that allows for hilarious over the top the damage amounts.

So I just got this game and I'm enjoying it immensely, just a little sad that it's so short and linear. I would have loved to have seen what it would look like with 100 hours and side quests/mini games etc

It opens up in Act 3.

And Im thankful for the shorter more direct storyline. There are places where you can wander off if you want, but a shorter more focused experience rather than some meandering slog is very welcomed to me.

BTW, game of the generation for me.

not exactly what I was thinking. For example, I usually run Gustave to hit harder but sometimes I want him to be more a support role.
Your problems will be solved beginning of Act II.

There is a lot to do post game in act 3. Renoit's drafts is brutal for any character below 90.

Eh, it's absurdly easy with the right build. If you just stack Maelle up on damage pictos and take advantage of things like auto death/breaking death, you can literally just one shot Simon. Once I learned that damage abilities stack, this game has been stupid easy, to the point that it kinda breaks the game.

Of course, this is what I did as well, but it takes a while to build up that much lumina.

I'm early in the game and I want to be overpowered. It's just how I like to play. Can you give guidance on this? I just got through the Flying Waters area and at the end you can meet with the curator, and can assign Luminos to different characters. Of course I have no idea what that is, so i distributed 2/3 of them to the three characters, and left some b/c I have no idea what that does. Advice to overpower? And I assume "damage picos" is anything that is offensive in nature that does damage, verses healing or defense, correct?

To oneshot Simon, Maelle needs around 400+ lumina and Sciel/Verso need around 200-300 each.

You need the cheater picto to take 2 actions per turn.

Beyond that, you need to add basically every major damage picto to Maelle. This link is a good guide.

To get this you'll probably need to farm lumina on the merchant in Renoit's Drafts, who will give you one to three lumina per battle. If you can oneshot or twoshot that battle you can get that lumina in 30 seconds or so. Just repeat over and over for more lumina.

I did it with Maelle only having like 220, Verso having 210, and and Sciel having 170. Still did 80 million in damage.

Early game I would spread it evenly between the three. You get a lot more later on.

Also, I would suggest just do it however you want. There are so many options for builds. You only need the super OP ones for the crazy hard boss that is optional at the end. I played the whole game with Lune as my damage dealer and she absolutely smoked the whole game.

That guide is post Stendhal and medalum nerfs. With that build you originally would be doing billions in damage.

I had to go to absolute war with this game on PC to make it look right graphically to me, but holy sh*t does it look good now. I'm about 5 hours in and absolutely hooked. I don't know that a story in any game has gripped me this quickly, can't wait to keep going.

I defeated the 2nd axon and felt the game was leading me to go straight after the paintress. I've only got about 17 hours in the game and my lumina numbers are waaaaaaay lower than ones I've seen on here. This can't be the actual last stage of the game right?

Just finished the main story line. Game of the generation, what an absolute masterpiece. I can't wait to explore some of this more challenging optional content and new game+

There is a lot to do in the 3rd act in addition to the final boss. The amount of optional content is pretty large. Also, you'll have to grind for a bit to get lumina above specific levels. It does trivialize the game once you do since you will oneshot everything.

I liked this game and the story overall but I felt like a lot of the narrative, so to speak, was going from point A to point B. After that incredible prologue and the start of act 1, the bulk of your time is fighting through this zone or that zone. Then something might happen, and you're in the next act, and you don't get a lot of answers and it's a lot of traveling.

Years from now when I only remember the overall story I'll remember it as great, but when I'd play for an hour and progress absolutely nothing storywise, that was kind of a beating.

And I know lots of RPGs have travel and drip-fed story content, but this felt particularly like oases in a desert. Poor pacing IMO.

Totally get where you're coming from on this. I felt like the simplicity and linearity at times was exactly what I needed as a 39 year old dad of two haha.

As a 37 year old dad of two, it kinda screwed me. Or rather I screwed myself. Newborn baby so I had to play in short bursts and it was like 10 sessions between story progress at times. In my younger days I could have binged it and been happy.

This game is so good, that it has ruined me playing other games for now.

I try and play something....and I just lose interest.
