I had one called Aces of the Pacific. Anyone play that? It was cutting edge graphics with MIDI music and all.

Anyone else ever play the tank game Battlezone, where it was nothing but green lines on the screen and you could move around and change your turret position to fire? Thought it was so much fun playing a "3d"ish game lol.

In pre-internet time.....even though it's not shopping, I have to say nothing has ever beat the feeling of walking into a blockbuster (or hastings) and seeing a plastic case behind the box of a console game you had been waiting forever to play.

Back when they finished coding and debugging games before they're released.

Also, it gets better.

There were the days you'd find a new cabinet at the arcade.

I may have found my most expensive hobby recently.

That looks like maybe '06 at the earliest. I thought Babbage's was long gone by then.

I loved going into Babbage's as a kid. There always seemed to be so much to choose from. I remember getting the original Legend of Zelda there. Pulling the gold cartridge out of the case -- my 9-year-old self was blown away.

The Babbage's I recall I think was DOS/PC only - 86 to maybe 90 were my peak visits. For a new level of lame, I recall watching the their demo loop they always had running at the front store TV display. I was really excited when they updated the feed to new games.

Do you guys remember a game called Descent? It was like a space hovercraft game or something. I had the demo of that and played the hell out of it. lol. I was a dork. I have the entire JANES stuff too like Longbow and other flying games. Wow. Good times.

I remember that game giving me insane motion sickness...was ahead of it's time but I could just not play it.

Mostly -- yes. But they had a video game section in Willowbrook Mall lining the walls.
