So you wrap in sausage and then wrap that in bacon?

it's like the texas version of a Scotch egg! You could also deep fry them.... just sayin'

I tricked my up a little bit, I added diced onion and minced garlic to the cream cheese I stuffed them with, came out pretty good. I used bread crumbs and baked them, basting with BBQ sauce for the last few minutes. I didn't like the mix of the BBQ sauce and the bread crumbs, so I think I will skip the bread crumbs next time. I also plan to cook them out on the smoker rather than the oven, I just didn't have enough time to cook outside this time.

Sadly, I forgot to take pics.

okay, I got a batch of the basic recipe going in the oven in about 10 mins. Venison sausage, home canned japs and cream cheese.

ENG, how did they turn out?

Well, I had to taper the jalapenos down a bit (they were REALLY hot). I basically rolled slivers of japs and cream cheese with the sausage.

They turned out great, disappeared quickly. I think I will go the bacon wrapped direction next time.

I'm trying these suckers out tonight. Using cream cheese and monterey jack cheese mixed together as my stuffing. I wish I'd read past the first post or I would have included caramelized onions in my stuffing.

Just took a dozen off the grill - o-u-t-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g! Used a cream cheese/sharp cheddar mix with some finely chopped onion, garlic powder and Zatarain's seasoning. A word to the wise on the packjaged sausage patties - it will take at least one and a half patties per pepper.
