I recall the Norwegian's dipping snus when I worked offshore and the cans had a secondary compartment on the lid so you could save a pouch if you were not finished with it.
Cannot recall exactly how much more than cope long cut it was but wanted to say they were paying $30 a can when I was paying $4.50. That said as to why they would get as much as they could out of a pouch.

I've had zero luck quitting nicotine (smoke, dip, vape), but I'm rooting for you OP. Go get'em.

I quit smoking when I got married back in 04. Quit dipping a year or two after that. Cold turkey for 3 or 4 years and then bought a can on a hunting trip just to see if I could turn the switch back off. To this day, I'll still have the occasional dip or smoke. Some years, maybe a half dozen times, others maybe once or twice. Once the habit was broken, it was broken. I can dip a can of Skoal on hunting trip or smoke a pack of Marlboro lights on a fishing trip and go months without giving it a second thought.
That being said, I love to smoke and dip. I don't think it's the nicotine, it's the actual action and taste of both. Sitting in a bar playing 42 smoking a cig and drinking beer was my happy place. Having a cig after a big meal just made it feel complete. Sitting in a deer blind with a dip of Skoal just felt right. Sitting by a campfire at deer camp drinking a scotch and smoking a cigar or Marlboro was heaven.
My main reason for quitting was to be healthier for my wife and kids. I've told myself for years, when I get to an age where I can see my final light at the end of the tunnel, I'm going to take up smoking again. If I'm in my late 70's or early 80's and still have the desire to light one up, I'm thinking at that point, taking a year or two off my last 10 or so won't be that big of a deal.

Buerger disease is a rare disease of the arteries and veins in the arms and legs. In Buerger disease also called thromboangiitis obliterans blood vessels become blocked. This reduces blood flow to the affected areas. Blood clots may form in the blood vessels.
Over time, the lack of blood flow damages or destroys skin tissue. The damage can lead to infection and death of body tissue, called gangrene. Buerger disease is usually first seen in the feet. It may eventually affect the blood vessels of the hand. Blood clots may form in the small veins of the arms and legs.
People who get Buerger disease almost always smoke cigarettes or use other forms of tobacco, such as chewing tobacco. Quitting all forms of tobacco is the only way to stop Buerger disease. For those who don't quit, surgery to remove fingers and toes might be needed.

Took my last pinch of snuff on 04-08-2012 after using Skoal and mostly Copenhagen for ~15 years give or take.
Wasn't easy, had a few setbacks here and there in the process. Didn't tell the wife since I was going to surprise her with it, but that ended up being a poor choice since I was irritable AF and we had some unecessary fights.
They do. It takes a while. It's been 13 years for me and probably only the last 4-5 where I haven't had the occasional dream where I had a dip or the random thought of wanting or needing one.Daddy-O5 said:
Managed to springboard a trip overseas for a couple of weeks into my last (and final) attempt at quitting after almost 2 decades (and multiple failed, similar attempts). Last dip was in October of 2019 my way through the airport and threw away the rest of the can as I boarded. Coming up on 6 years now. Cravings don't ever go away completely. Stress, long drives, working in the field, etc. they still hit.
How you quit is something you've got to decide personally. I'm pretty convinced whether gradual, with the use of pouches gum etc., or just cold turkey is based on individual personality and tolerance. I had to go cold turkey or it was never going to work for me. Sunflower seeds (Chinook Seedery, free plug for those guys) has saved me more than once. I've left a trail of shells on a countless number of docks and ships throughout the world.
No regrets, much less money spent, no more worrying about my jaw falling off some day, no having to explain to my girls what's in that can or cup. Occasional cigar still, but for me that's not an addiction, something to do socially or every once in a while, outside as I work around the yard. Might help with a nicotine fix if I'm being honest, but clearly less of an issue than the Copenhagen.
Good Luck OP!

Dipped for 20. My sister died within 2 months of us adopting a baby and I quit as I wanted to be there for my baby.
It's super hard after meals, when driving, when doing outside time, yard work, etc. I will get a can of the tobacco free snuff at HEB when I go on guys trips and I don't have the withdrawal when I get home.
