The better question is how did they find all the other girls? It is a warzone

This. My neighbor is TTF2 and worked both Wimberly and this flood. Knowing the challenges they face, I've been amazed at the recovery on this one. But it is still gut-wrenching to think of Cile and her family

I suspect the difference is 10 years of improvements in the technology and better understanding how to target search areas.

Heartbreaking article about Mystic Camper Ellen. I've already read it several times since yesterday, includes pictures of her unopened letters home.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/article/ellen-getten-guadalupe-river-flood-20774347.php

Thank you for sharing.

I will say, I love reading about the families, but these are genuinely so hard to read. This momma wants all of this undone. The hurt and the trauma, I just want it gone.

My prayers continue for all impacted, those we lost, those left behind, and those still searching.

Please Lord. Let them all be found. Praying for Cile and that they may find her for her family's sake.

This one just hit me harder than the others I have read for some reason. I'm the older of two sisters and hearing the sister's perspective and about their relationship at such a young age is just so sweet and utterly heartbreaking. Praying for Ellen's parents and her sister today. And praying for Cile to be found.

Sorry if this has been answered a while ago, but have they found all of the Mystic girls aside from Cile?

Yes. Cile and an adult male are the only two unaccounted for in Kerr County.

Unfortunately, in floods, some are never found. Jonathan McComb's daughter, from the 2015 Wimberly flood was never found. The water creates a lot of debris or they are simply buried under all of the new gravel or silt that is now in the river.

I am hoping that the sonar technology, the AquaEye, that they are using is increasing chances of those buried to be found. It's fascinating technology. Before this, I saw only 4 departments had it. Hopefully the use is increasing recovery rates and the technology will get into more hands.

His son was never found.

I don't think I can post a photo (rookie… lol) but I saw in a Facebook group someone posted a photo of a really nice memorial display of all of the Camp Mystic girls lost in the flood that's at Taste of Texas in Houston. Maybe someone else will see it and post it. I do have a screenshot if I can figure out how to share it…

There is zero chance I could just walk by that. I would be frozen in place looking at each one and I'd probably be a 6'1" 220lb 44yr old blubbering dude mess. Period.

That's very nice and not just camp mystic girls. Top right are the sisters from Dallas that were lost with their grandparents.

The Hendees (owners) are incredibly wonderful people, who know the loss of child first hand (though he was grown). Bless them, I'm glad they have made such a special tribute.

This is at Taste of Texas, right? I can't help but think there is something kind of humorous about crying into a 40oz steak and potatoes.

(I would also cry..and then feel wierd about stuffing myself with red meat)

I was relayed this story today. I won't share the name of the girl because she is in for years of trauma and therapy. They have so far kept her name out of the news, and I'll try to be vague enough not to give anything away.

She was in one of the cabins that had massive losses.

When they decided to evacuate, she and the other girls were put onto mattresses.

She began floating down the river in the flood and held on for her life. Eventually, she floated long enough that she was able to get to a point downstream where she could make it to land in a wooded area. Apparently, she was so exhausted from everything that she piled up some leaves to lay on and fell asleep. When she woke up (and probably due to shock), she started screaming loud enough that whoever owned that land heard her and came running and got her.

They cleaned her up and were able to get her back to one of the other camps (won't say which one), where she was reunited with her family.

I cannot imagine what she's going through right now.

I wonder if this is the girl they rescued at La Junta from Mystic (a 5 mile float), but I'd also heard that was a counselor. Either way, a trip through absolute hell.

Hi all,

I'm a 20 year old female university student from Georgia. I have zero ties to Texas whatsoever, but I've been staying up to date on the flooding especially at Camp Mystic. I've been perusing Reddit and TexAgs for updates on every missing girl. Having that sort of outsider's perspective has ultimately brought me closer to God. In fact, I just bought my first Bible in a decade.

I just wanted to let y'all know that people are watching and supporting from near and far. While I personally don't know many Christians anymore in my very diverse community near Atlanta, those I do know have been impacted and called upon to educate, donate, and serve the Lord in many ways. Many Southern Christians over here have fond memories of sleepaway camps in the North Georgia mountains and the magic and overwhelming joy that awaited them every year.

I feel compelled to help out in the future of these summer camps and would love to be a camp counselor regardless of my fears. Who knows what God's plan is for the Texas Hill Country? Nevertheless, y'all deserve so much love and support in the rebuilding and healing process and you will receive it from the most unexpected of places and people, trust me. We are praying and taking as much action as we can.

God Bless.

Thank you for posting. This is how God works. He takes the worst tragedies and brings good out of it. I lost an 8 y/o great niece and I know exactly where she is. And have an incredible peace that can only be from the Holy Spirit.
God bless!
