The media will absolutely hound any phone number they can get, which is unfortunate because so many of the phone numbers connected to the missing children were posted early during the crisis.

If you're ever involved in something like this:
  • Make all of your social media accounts private. Ask your friends not to speak to any media organization on your behalf or give out any of your information.
  • Appoint a non-direct family member or trusted friend to be your authorized contact, give them a written statement to deliver, and send any incoming requests to that person
  • The really hard part: do this with almost everyone, not just media. Reporters will go to pastors, sports team coaches, anyone they can piece together from social media looking for a quote
  • If and when you are willing to answer questions, make sure to record whatever conversation you have with media organizations

Also, we should fully expect that the media will find this thread and source it for quotes.

Shut your phone off. Get a new one. Share your new number with contacts. If that gets swarmed. Shut it off again and only share with close people. They'll be ok and should have your email address

I know it's easy to start blaming people for false information but for people like Dermdoc and I this is very personal and we know y'all are hurting as well so we want to give the information we get and we are optimistic and trend towards the positive. Mary Grace is a sweet kind girl with the cutest personality and she loves to be a big sister. Her mom is the essence of a momma bear and her dad is the best Aggie I know. Please remember to keep her and the rest of twins cabin in your prayers. The noise doesn't mean anything without our girls.
Thank you. I am literally without words and for those who know me, that is rare. My goodness, I am an old ornery coot who never cries and I am crying like a baby. This rips your soul out.

Glenn Juenke - thank you.

This man needs to be formally recognized at Kyle this fall in front of 100k+ with a video story on the Jumbotron of what he did to save so many young girls. Legend.

I agree with the sentiment. This man is undoubtably a hero, but please respect his privacy. Not everyone wants or needs awards and accolades. I don't know Glenn, but I am sure he has some very complex things he is trying to process. He was deeply involved with these campers and is probably dealing with some real pain from this tragedy. Please don't bother heroes like Glenn with good intentions right now. The time will come for that. The best thing to do is keep praying for their strength.

A strong word of caution for anyone that decides to communicate with the press: please reserve the right to proofread any story before it is published.

My wife was a teacher for a high school student who drowned in a flood in our hometown. She granted an interview with a reporter to describe what a kind, sweet person the student was. However, she was misquoted (reporter actually made up some of her statements), which caused some very hurtful feelings for the parents.

The buildings weren't washed away. They are all still there except for maybe Bug House.

The children were washed away trying to get out of the buildings... most of them when a wall of water came down suddenly as Bubble Inn was being evacuated and some as they tried to escape from twins 1 and 2 which have flat ceilings and attics and kids couldn't float inside.

Wiggle Inn for sure (My daughter rode out the flood there), and ive been told Giggle Box and Tumble Inn have vaulted ceilings and the kids had more room with the rising waters to stay in the cabins.
Thank you! First of all, thrilled that your daughter was safe. I actually have friends whose daughter seems to have also been helped by Glenn in the same cabin, which is awesome and a miracle! On the other hand, one of the families still searching for their little one is in my extended network of sorts- so gut wrenching for them.

I can't imagine what you went through two days ago- I remember reading your post about waiting for news and how unbelievably hard that must have been- then you were reunited.

The map that someone posted was helpful in understanding the layout of the camp and the cabins. Still blows my mind how fast the water can rise in such a wide space.

Do you know if/what happened to the campers at the Cypress Lake campsite? Was that campsite damaged at all? Again, it's hard to understand where the main part of the South Fork Guadalupe runs compared to the "smaller" Cypress Creek which feeds into SFG, but Cypress Creek is what appears to surround the southern campsite, but it doesn't sound like that campsite was in as precarious of a situation as the Guadalupe site?

I don't want to burden you with these questions, so forgive me and if someone else can provide insight, that would be helpful.
