The media will absolutely hound any phone number they can get, which is unfortunate because so many of the phone numbers connected to the missing children were posted early during the crisis.
If you're ever involved in something like this:
- Make all of your social media accounts private. Ask your friends not to speak to any media organization on your behalf or give out any of your information.
- Appoint a non-direct family member or trusted friend to be your authorized contact, give them a written statement to deliver, and send any incoming requests to that person
- The really hard part: do this with almost everyone, not just media. Reporters will go to pastors, sports team coaches, anyone they can piece together from social media looking for a quote
- If and when you are willing to answer questions, make sure to record whatever conversation you have with media organizations
Also, we should fully expect that the media will find this thread and will source it for quotes soon.

I know it's easy to start blaming people for false information but for people like Dermdoc and I this is very personal and we know y'all are hurting as well so we want to give the information we get and we are optimistic and trend towards the positive. Mary Grace is a sweet kind girl with the cutest personality and she loves to be a big sister. Her mom is the essence of a momma bear and her dad is the best Aggie I know. Please remember to keep her and the rest of twins cabin in your prayers. The noise doesn't mean anything without our girls.

Glenn Juenke - thank you.
This man needs to be formally recognized at Kyle this fall in front of 100k+ with a video story on the Jumbotron of what he did to save so many young girls. Legend.
This old man is 70 and still doing 11 minute miles on the treadmill and 50 pushups.TAMUallen said:trouble said:

**** off. We arent a news story and take care of our own here. This is a horrific natural disaster and we will power through it. There's those who are actively missing relatives and are hurting. This isn't your click bait. Dont mess with texags especially when we are under duress

A strong word of caution for anyone that decides to communicate with the press: please reserve the right to proofread any story before it is published.45-70Ag said:URGENT: Friends/Family of one of the little girls we lost in the floods reached out: “Media is hunting the families & friends of missing or deceased - they are combing social media and hounding families. Please call on press to allow families to grieve. Now is not the time.”

As someone who once had media knocking on our neighbors' doors asking about us, this is good advice.bthotugigem05 said:

I'm not. Umpires are people too. That cranky old man is a mean son of a b*tch. He's also an Astro's fan. He sucks.
Not, really. He's one of the best and he would give his Aggie slippers off of his feet to anyone that needed them. Ed is the best shlt Aggie and Christian man I have ever met. I have no words of comfort to give right now.

And thank you to the mods for letting me vent and embrace my Aggie fellowship.
Thank you! First of all, thrilled that your daughter was safe. I actually have friends whose daughter seems to have also been helped by Glenn in the same cabin, which is awesome and a miracle! On the other hand, one of the families still searching for their little one is in my extended network of sorts- so gut wrenching for them.Badace52 said:
The buildings weren't washed away. They are all still there except for maybe Bug House.
The children were washed away trying to get out of the buildings... most of them when a wall of water came down suddenly as Bubble Inn was being evacuated and some as they tried to escape from twins 1 and 2 which have flat ceilings and attics and kids couldn't float inside.
Wiggle Inn for sure (My daughter rode out the flood there), and ive been told Giggle Box and Tumble Inn have vaulted ceilings and the kids had more room with the rising waters to stay in the cabins.
