I can hardly believe it's been a month since that horrible day. Tears are flowing again this morning thinking of all the families and loved ones learning to live a life without their girls. Praying ceaselessly for Cile's family today. Holy Father, let today be the day!

We went to a memorial yesterday for Knetsch family which included a 6-year-old girl. She was with her parents and grandparents at the RV park in Kerrville when the flood hit. When a child dies, we tend to focus our prayers to lift up the parents left behind. In this case they are gone too, and so are one set of grandparents. It is such a a big void and loss it is hard for me to wrap my head around that.

Just caught this on the socials. Apologies as I don't know how to embed the video rather than just provide the link.

What a wonderful and heartfelt tribute this DPS officer, Christopher made to the girls of Mystic! I can only imagine how beautiful that sounded coming over the river. God is so good.

This was shared by a BCS news personality. I hope it's okay to share.

""Please don't give up on our girl"

It's been a month since the deadly flooding in Kerr County, and Cile Steward, 8, remains missing. She was one of the campers at Camp Mystic. Her family has shared this update:

"It has been an excruciating month of grief, loss and waiting for news of our precious Cile. We are shattered by this tragedy but we are also filled with tremendous gratitude for the outpouring of support as we navigate the unimaginable.

To the brave search and recovery crews who have been working tirelessly to find Cile and bring her home: there aren't words sufficient to express our thanks. Your dedication means everything to our family and your continued efforts give us hope that we may soon be able to bring our baby home and begin to heal. Please don't give up on our girl.

To our families, friends and community: your love, support and prayers have been a lifeline. We are forever grateful for every word of kindness and gesture of support. We could not walk through these difficult times without you.

To our Cile Bug: our love for you is endless and boundless. We feel you everywhere and are thankful for every single moment of your brief and beautiful life. We will miss you every day until we meet again, sweet girl.

With love,
CiCi and Will Steward"

KPRC2 in Houston has been covering the story over the last few days since the 4th has been one month. The story tonight discussed the HCSO and HPD dive teams efforts. Each of the teams has a sonor link directly to the divers's masks so they get a real time display of what is underwater. I think the reporter said there are only 50 of these systems in use throughout the country. One of the HCSO team members specifically said they are continuing to search for Cile
to help bring closure to her family.

Here is a link to the YouTube video.

Edited for Cile's name typo.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but this is a touching video from the Texas National Guard about some of the Blackhawk crews and the rescue missions. It was shared by my wife's friend who is responsible for their public relations communications.

Looks like a couple of the air crew are Ags.

That video was powerful. Thanks to those brave troops for taking care of so many young people.

What I am, again, reminded of is that the trauma is not over. All of the families whose little girls were lost are scarred and traumatized for ever. Their trauma will never end.

For the little girls that survived, they also will have lifetime scars. The fears they must experience every time it storms. Their parents who are learning to handle those occurences. The nightmares. And, on and on and on.

I know of no one that was directly involved but, yet, my heart breaks for them 24/7.

Pray without ceasing.

Thanks for posting that. Such a wonderful group of men saving a bunch of wonderful kiddos.

I get a chuckle over Sgt Minor's saying "unfortunately" about having never seen damage like that. I hope his boys don't rib him too much about it lol.

Hazel has been asking to do a lemonade stand to raise money for the flood victims for a while now and we finally got around to it today.

She managed to raise nearly $600 and made some pretty impressive homemade lemonade with her mom to boot. (If some of the pics look at little odd, it's cuz I erased a little neighborhood friend of hers for privacy's sake)

While Hazel is doing really well, we've gotten word some of her cabinmates are having a rough go of it lately. It's going to be a long way back to some semblance of normalcy for many.

A lot of the kids involved in the flood are starting school soon or already back and some of these kids aren't really ready to talk much about what they experienced. If you know or hear of some of the flood victims in your community schools please remind adults and classmates around the school to let them share at their pace and be patient with them. Thank you all for your continued prayers for the flood victims.

Praying for all of the kids that experienced the flood and for their classmates who are going to miss their friends. They'll need their space and at the same time, they are going to need a lot of love and support. Praying for all of that.

Saying a prayer for all the folks whose lives are forever changed by this event. Although it may take some time, I hope future July 4th holidays bring some joy to them. Maybe there will also be rainy days that don't bring fear, but a smile knowing things will only get better.

Seeing a lemonade stand always makes me think of the best things of summer.

Looked outside my office window as my wife prepared to take her morning trike ride. She was standing by our big oak tree retying the pink ribbons that represent the "Precious Camp Mystic Girls". She came inside and told me that we can't take them down yet, because Cile hasn't been found yet. It just seems like for us the prayers need to continue, and the ribbons need to stay up on our trees for all involved with July 4th. God bless!

Exactly my thoughts. Although, maybe I need to go retie the ribbon.

Yeah, mine is still up as well. Serves as a reminder to pray.

I had a black and red bow tied on my office door for 2 years after the Covenant School shooting in Nashville, in which I lost two friends. There is no timetable for how long to leave the ribbons up. Leave them as long as you need. Healing has no definitive timetable.

Prayers continued in our household.

I want to thank you for welcoming comments by people from outside the Aggie community here. I think the closest connection I can claim to Aggieland is being a longtime Dude Perfect fan, if that counts (in fact, my username is a reference to my being an Oregon boy with a soft spot for both the Ducks and the Beavers), but I am a longtime counselor (and occasional dishwasher and music team member) at a few Christian summer camps, having done that almost every year since 2006. I think it goes without saying that camp is something near and dear to my heart; I've read every page of this thread, and would have made this post even sooner if not for my own weeks spent up at camp since July 4.

I have so much I'd like to say, but I'm not sure what of it would be a blessing to those who are here; I do know, however, that the things that help when words cannot are a listening ear and fervent prayers, and I offer both, to whatever degree a stranger from halfway across the country (who also happens to be a brother in Christ to many here and many of the most-affected) is able to.
