I've been putting in for the Texas draw hunts year after year, but still haven't gotten picked. It makes me wonder, who out there has the most loyalty points stacked up?

Why don't you start the game by posting all your points in each category?

Im at 7 points in a lot of the categories. Really just started 8 years ago missed a year in the middle. More just wondering if there are people with 20+ out there. It's one of those things me and a friend apply together each year and see it as a donation since we don't really expect to win.

I am at 15 in all gun categories, but I only put in for the top tier hunts. I've never been drawn, but will some day. The hunts that you go for is another component to your question.

unfortunately, TPWD system is absolute trash. Between cubing points and showing no preference for resident hunters, it's a joke of a game that I hate playing.

17 GDE is my highest count. But like to be above poster, I only put on for the chaparral. I've been drawn multiple times in other categories with 5 to 10 points. I put in for less popular locations for antlerless etc. My son who is 13 has been drawn for five months. If you have kids or ever get them start putting them in at age 8.

Also, look at which locations do standby hunts. If there's somewhere that is drivable distance and you can take the day off, you can get lucky a lot of times. Usually, you can contact the location a couple days before and ask if they know how many standby spots they will have or follow their Facebook page.

dumb question - but how do you accumulate points, and how do you see how many points you have accumulated?

Google TPWD drawn hunts. Login to check your status. Read the info to learn about preference points.

Most I have is 22 points in GDE.

Had 15 in GDAS and drew South Llano River several years back.

Had 17 in Exotic and drew Devils River also several years back.

Drew chap at 25 years before the cubed system. Thus I don't think the cubed system seems all that bad. Just need to raise the out of state fees by 10x at least. I'll post the draw statistics again this year once they draw mule deer.

I draw something just about every year.

If you're only applying to one top tier hunt in a category per year where 2400 people are chasing 8 spots, then you should probably expect to wait 25-30 years before drawing anything.

There are some hunt categories and locations where you could draw every other year or every third year fairly reliably. At only $3 per application, you should apply for every hunt that you're remotely interested in. With cubed points, saving up is a losing game and you'll never catch up to the people who have 20-30 today.

I have anywhere from 1 to 15 points but I put in for almost all categories and have been drawn. But its not like years past where if you go a few years without drawing you can "afford" to put in for a few mid tier hunts and get drawn, lose your points amd start over and not feel too far behind.

Im not putting in for hunts that arent desirable in location or success rate just to get drawn. I also still put in for mid tier hunts in certain categories. TPWD needs more hunts and squaring would be a good compromise
