Today is our last day fishing out of Estancia del Zorro. Tonight we'll move to another lodge, operated by the same folks, Cinco Rios. I thought it would be a good time to share some initial thoughts about this operation compared to Tres Valles Lodge, operated by Patagonia River Guides in Argentina.
PRG is a first class operation and we had a great time there. The cost reflects that. My wife and I joke that it's the Ritz Carlton of lodges. We had a great time and have already discussed returning there in 2027.
By comparison I would say Estancia del Zorro is less expensive and the service comparable. Flo, the manager is very accommodating and cheerful. The digs, while not as luxurious, are still very nice and comfortable. The meals at both places are excellent. To me, Estancia del Zorro seems to have a more laid back, chill feeling than PRG's Tres Valles Lodge. The guides at both know their business but the guides at Estancia del Zorro will keep fishing until dark if you want to keep going.
All that said, both places are great operations. Chile seems to be more culturally similar to Mexico than Argentina which, for. Pearsall boy, is nice. Given the lower cost at Estancia del Zorro, Melissa and I will probably think more about coming back here in 2027 instead of PRG.
