I hope they check her ears to be sure it is really her and not some other escapee.

How on earth, if someone did take it out, keep it under wraps? It's not like it's an Axis or even Elk that you can claim was from an exotic ranch. It's a damn giraffe. THE most recognizable animal possibly on the planet and everyone loves them.
The hide is also THICK. I've read up to 15mm in parts. Supposedly very, very difficult to dress and clean. Think an entire village working. Not two dudes with a spotlight, a case of beer, and a pair of Uncle Henry skinners.

This is true. A buddy of mine killed one, he's killed most of the Big 5 and a ton of plains animals.
I don't know what caliber he was using but it started with a 3 or a 4 and ended with Super Duper Stomper Magnum.
He said the only animal that he didn't get a full bullet pass through was a Giraffe, using a Barnes TSX.
He said the bullet was imbeded under the skin on the opposite side. He said the skin was deceptively thick.

I hope her head didn't get caught on any low hanging power / internet cables during transport

Very common to blindfold an animal like that when darting or capture. Making it dark they stay much calmer than seeing what's going on. That's why most trailers that haul deer or exotics are usually totally enclosed so it stays dark inside and keeps them much calmer. We have done that very regularly when capturing and transporting deer or exotics.

Main rule we lived by was to not dart or capture when the temp was above 80. The cooler the better! Seen lots of animals die because they are trying to be moved in the heat.

If you fold the seats flat in the back of a suburban or expedition, you can fit a deer and keep them cool
