Watersmart still says I need to water my yard.
Can we see your bvwatersmart gauges?waterchick said:
No app or website is going to be as smart as a person monitoring their own yard daily and turning sprinklers off after rain, but data helps. The rain gauge at the fire station on Fitch only recorded 0.10 inches yesterday and 0.26 inches on 6/9.![]()
I get a daily email with rainfall totals at all the BVWaterSmart gauges in College Station. Monday's rain was between 0.3 and 0.5 inches around town (with the south CS exception). Yesterday, more variable but overall less. I thought the forecast this week was calling for an 80% chance of rain Thursday. Not so much.
What I get in an email is the same as what shows up here when you click on the sprinkler icons: bvwatersmart.tamu.edu. Gauges are located at fire stations, wastewater lift stations, Carter Creek wastewater treatment plant, and Veterans Park and Hensel Park. I don't remember exactly where the Bryan gauges are. They needed to be as geographically dispersed as possible, maybe more where there are denser neighborhoods, but also behind a fence as a defense against bored teens and college students.dubi said:Can we see your bvwatersmart gauges?waterchick said:

Do you customize my email based on the rain gauge that is closest to my house?Quote:

More data = better watering recommendations.
I do have my private weather station mounted on the roof; so I'm good in that regard.waterchick said:
Yes. But your house isn't really close to any of the gauges, unfortunately. More gauges = more granular data.
