It is only a $55-$119 Billion project, Musk said there are several sites under consideration........would be an unbelievable economoic shot-in-the-arm to Bryan/College Station and the entire Brazos Valley (if chosen).

The Grimes County News FB page has already declared that it would ruin everything if that chip plant came to Grimes County.

Half of them are bashing it because they think it's a data center.

If it will come and inject money into the economy to improve the education in Grimes County, I say go for it based on the posts I read.

Wow.

Yeah as a Grimes County resident for 10 years, we have a well deserved reputation of shooting ourselves in the foot. The reason 249 goes from divided 4 lane to a 2 lane at 1774 is because Grimes county threw a fit about having a toll road. Nevermind the right of way I. Grimes county is as wide as it is south of 1774. And now that stretch of 249 from 105 to 1774 so one of the most dangerous in the area. Well done guys!

SH 30 at the Navasota River is a key, flood-prone connector between College Station and Huntsville, often experiencing high water and closures in Grimes County

They will need to build a better bridge across the Navasota river on 30 to handle the traffic.

249 would have done the same thing and they didn't listen. Even though landowners up and down the corridor wanted to sell.

A few loud voices that wouldn't have even been affected by the toll roads cost their own citizens a lot of money.

And that doesn't include money that would have been taken in by the tolls.

They have been working on a new bridge over Gibbons for almost 2 years and still haven't finished. Won't they have to widen that elevated berm thru the Navasota bottom before widening the actual road ?

How did Grimes County stop a state highway project from building four lanes instead of two?

Did they have some kind of legal veto power, or was it more of a political influence thing that the state didn't want to override?

Political influence from what I remember.

I hate that stretch of the toll road.
So much so that I've resorted to adding a few minutes to my trip, and driving down to Plantersville.

10x safer if they had extended the four lane toll road to 105. 1000x safer if they had just taken it all the way to 6. From 6 &105 in Navasota to 249 & 1774, you are taking your life into your own hands. I drive that stretch 5-10 times per week.

Based on the FB page I read, that's a small talent pool.

I'd guess the roads would be completely redone before building.

The more I read about it, seems like the old Alcoa plant seems like a better fit because of the distance to the Giga Facility and the prototype Terafab facility. Any chance they are just wanting more because they already have several DCs in that area?
I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

Honestly, how many lives would have been saved if the good old boys didn't get there way and a four lane, divided toll road went all the way to Navasota?

Wrecks are not only frequent, but too often deadly because of it.
