What I was really excited about was the original idea of creating a food hall on the property next to Post Oak Mall. A place where local restaurants and food vendors could rent their own space, giving people dozens of different options under one roof, sounds like something our community could really enjoy.

Can't share the emails or details but we won that job and were beginning to mobilize on it when we were issued a stop work notice by the developer/ potential owner. We were told the city intentionally killed the deal because they were interested in that property.

It is not. That was cancelled before it even started. This was bowling and movies.

Says the man with fingers crossed since he enthusiastically voted for the project in 22 and $2 million loan in 24.

The CoB could lease out the space as is for $1/year for the next 2million years. That would recoup the money. ; )

Can you graze longhorns, on the green space around the building? If so, one elected official might be interested...

Maybe the mayor can graze his longhorns there.

Yeah IIRC the food court was prior to, and also IIRC the CoCS didn't actually consummate the meddling by actually buying the property like it did with Macy's.

****ETA****

CoCS definitely seems to have an infatuation with the highlighted area

Maybe COCS can overpay for it and then sell it back to COB for a loss

I'd support a large combined cycle unit or mixed unit generation station. The strange thing is, aside from the solar panel factory, they don't tend to want to attract anything else that is concrete.

Because, apparently we have a bunch of (well-intentioned?) idiots running the show in both cities.

Who would have ever thunk that a tire shop guy and part time rancher would make bad decisions about loaning $2M to other long-time friends and son of other local business owners?!?

Also, who would have thought that a 80+ year old career professor who never had a job outside academia would not know how to run a business friendly city that attracted quality employers?

Man, this is a real head scratcher. /s
